UTMB Summer '09 Applicants

Published

I'm wondering who applied for the UTMB Summer 2009 semester, and if they have received any news from UTMB. My status says "pending", and all my information was received. I don't know how big the applicant pool is considering the hurricane. I haven't seen any news on here about UTMB recently, so anything is appreciated. Thanks.

Has anyone who is attending class in the summer started looking into financial aid, or learned anything about what the schedule will be? I am thinking about calling them, but I also want to check here. Is enrollment going to be after orientation, or do we register before? I am just concerned because to get financial aid I have to be "enrolled," and I don't think I am going to have time to apply for financial aid this semester because there is not enough time between enrollment and registration and when tuition is due.

I tried calling up the Financial aid office.. but I couldn't get hold of anyone.. yeah.. im trying to figure out this whole financial stuff too.... Are we suppose to wait until Orientation to find out everything? im confused....

I called and spoke with the financial aid office today. I was told they were well aware of the students that were accepted for the summer. They were putting together the financial aid packets w/ the offers and are hoping to give out the money before orientation. Donno, just repeating what I was told.

Ok, well I talked to them today. They do the registration for us, and it will probably be a week before orientation before everyone is registered. She said that students are already applying for financial aid, so it doesn't really matter if we are registered or not (I guess as long as we are enrolled, that is what matters).

Mathwizard,

Are you going to Galveston College instead? I got into the program!! I am so excited!!!

What grades did you make in your sciences classes? If you don't mind me asking

in my science classes,

Anatomy and Physiology 1 & 2= B's

Micro=A

Nutrition=A

Psychology=B

Lifespan Growth and Development=A

Chemistry=A

Patho=A

Statistics=A

Sociology=A

I think that's all of them. I calculated a 3.67 GPA for my science classes, but I made an A in everything except A&P 1 and 2, and psychology.

Has anyone found out anymore information on orientation or financial aid? I got an email saying they want me to fax in a form, but I already faxed it and I haven't heard anything since.

I spoke to ****** from the financial aid office and she said that it takes them abt a week or so to work on getting the financial aid package together and our user log in for the financial portal. I faxed my forms in last week too.

Ok, thanks. I tried getting a hold of someone, but I only got voicemail. I finally finished my FAFSA about an hour ago, and I'm don't qualify for the pell grant....hopefully I can get a loan or something. I'm so excited about starting class, but this financial stuff frustrating.

Yes.. same here. I faxed off my "security acknowledgement and nondisclosure agreement form" for financial aid last week. I called thursday to verfiy that they received it and all I got was voicemail. Orientation is right around the corner and w/o financial aid, it will be a no go for me. Tomorrow I am getting my doctor to sign off on my shots.

Yeah, I'm a little stressed....

I have to pay a mysterious amount of money on May 1st...(15 days away), and I have no idea how much it is or how I'm going to deal with this. I have applied for some scholarships, but I don't qualify for any grants. I'm waiting to get more information, so I will at least have time to get a loan. My parents are helping out a little, but I'm still not sure about how I'm going to get all my books and supplies. (Especially since I quit my job and moved...). All of these sacrifices are encouraging me to do well, but I'm concerned about how well I can do if I am falling apart financially.
