UTMB Summer '09 Applicants

For the summer (15 month), we didn't have to submit anything for an entrance exam. However, they do require a personal statement. I don't know what chance you have at getting in. It really depends on how many students apply per semester. I think there were about 300 applicants for the summer semester (2009), and I know of at least one person who got accepted the day classes start. They look at experience in the interview, so being a CNA will help you. Good luck!

Bazooka,

Hi there, you seem to know alot about the nursing program and I see that you are in the summer accelerated program and I wanted to know if you can help me out since I am considering on applying for that same program next week. I'm currently in the ADN program at Galveston College which starts this August. I got in with a 3.5 overall gpa and my science is a 3.7. I looked at the pre-requis. right now and I haven't taken a statistics, history, and nutrition classes. Would I be okay if i need to take it in the program? Also, can you give me advice on the personal statement? Thank YOU!!!

Hi! I actually don't think they are doing another summer program, I think it changed to Spring 2010. I am not for sure, but I think that's what it said on the website. As far as I know, all the prerequisites need to be completed before the program begins. I'm sure the school of nursing would be able to advise you more on this. As far as the personal statement, I just answered the question. It was a little personal, and I just basically talked about my college experience, why I want to be a nurse, etc.

hello summer folks!

I'm going to be going to utmb this fall and was wondering what i should start reviewing before school starts. Also, for the books, does it matter if the publication year is a year behind what the bookstore website says? For instance, if the website says that a certain book is 2nd edition publication year 2009, is it okay to get a book from amazon, same isbn, same edition but 2008 publication year.

Hey Bazooka, I have been reading all the previous posts and you seem very well informed, i need to ask you some general questions about how to go about studying for my classes, I am in the Fall BSN program, and I am already feeling overwhelmed!!! I was able to access the mycitrix, and I have better access to the financial aid portal. I saw that it said estimated cost of tuition $14000, but I am pretty sure that it is for all 4 semesters. Hopefully we only have to pay one semester at a time, but I am going to try to call the financial aid office tomorrow to get some more information.
