  1. Thanks MissM.Rn! I definitely would've gotten it expunged but since its a Class B it cant be in Texas. Only class C misdemeanors can
  2. Freedom...I'll let you know the update. I think if it was expunged you should have no worries. Unfortunately for me, I cant have mine expunged since it was a misd B and I was 17. In Texas, 17 years old is considered an adult :/ I haven't been in any trouble since. I was hanging out with the wrong group of girls and I have since learned from the mistake. It also depends on how far the hospital looks back at your criminal background. I know the particular hospital I applied at goes back all the way. They've hired other nurses with DWI but its not the same as theft so I know the high risk mgmt people might have a problem with it. I'm praying they don't since it happened so long ago but who knows. :/ They will be running the background check in a couple of weeks according to HR. So I'll keep you posted. Please pray for me. Thanks
  3. Hi Strawberrysoul. I'm in a similar situation except mine is a misdemeanor B for theft that occurred 9 years ago. I was young and dumb, hanging out with the wrong group of girls. I also wasn't convicted but I answered yes on my application if I had a misdemeanor. It did not let me explain specifics, so therefor I was not able to list what it was. I was offered the job based on a contingent offer. They will run the background check probably in a week or so. So I will let you know if I end up getting hired at this hospital. From what I know, its really up to the hiring manager and HR if they would still like to move forward with you as an applicant. I've also tried to research this particular subject on allnurses. Good luck! When would you find out if you passed your background check?
  4. Hi all, Has anyone been offered a job at one of the big hospitals in Dallas with a criminal record? I was offered a job at Parkland hospital. But its a contingent offer. I was upfront on my application and checked yes that I had a misdemeanor. However, I was not able to explain what the misdemeanor was bc it did not provide a box for it. I have a Misdemeanor B for theft that occurred 9 years ago. I was able to get deferred adjudication. But I know it still shows on the background. The board has approved me to sit for Nclex. But now I'm worried that my job offer will be taken back since its contingent on the background check :/ I was thinking since I was honest and upfront about it on the application then it would be okay, but now after searching online I'm not so sure.
  5. Actually I was just accepted into the program at the end of Oct. It will be my first semester as a nursing student in Jan :) You would need to apply as a pre nursing student to UTA and then submit a separate application to the nursing school (you can pick one up, when you meet with your advisor, take a couple of nursing applications...I remember I messed up on my application and I had to redo it about 3 times ha ha) and once you are accepted into the program you will be an official nursing student. Turn in your nursing application about 2 weeks ahead of the deadline and take a copy of your transcripts with you...also meet with your advisor before you turn it in so they can make sure everything is okay, Justin is a great advisor he gets right to the point. *Also apply as soon as you can to the university that way if they loose your transcripts you will have ample time to get it to them again.... the acceptance letter from the university takes about 6 weeks. But as far as the acceptance letter from the SON (school of nursing) I applied June 1 and received my acceptance letter around the 28th of October you might find out in the beginning of OCT instead of the end bc the nursing school decided this year to get rid of the interviews!
  6. your welcome! and yes you just need to be accepted by UTA not the nursing program to take the 3 pre reqs. Most likely you will need your advisor to clear you bc when you register for the classes you need a code bc its an upper level class.....and let me give you some advice about Pharm....take it online! I wish I would have, I know the online class fills up very quick. As far as patho the teachers notes are very detailed! so read the blueprint ( its like a test review) and then follow your notes. Intro to nursing is very easy. So when you take the 3 pre reqs make a schedule on how much time you will spend on each class :) If you have anymore questions please feel free to ask! Also try to keep your GPA over a 3.5, I had a friend who had a 3.5 and she was a transfer like myself and she didnt get in. My science GPA was a 4.0 & pre req was around 3.7 & Good luck!
  7. Hello Pinktree, the deadline for the hesi & your nursing application is June 1...here is a link to look at it will give you more information http://www.uta.edu/nursing/BSN/admit.php and no you do not need to turn in your hesi score when you take the 3 req pre reqs. When you sign up to take the HESI ( I took mine at UTA) it will automatically be submitted to UTA , if you take your HESI at UTA....I took my hesi May 30 and the application for nursing was due June 1
  8. Thanks goopsy for the info :) I just got my packet on saturday sorry I didnt post, I've been studying for finals non stop lol
  9. Hey ms. sealy :)
  10. you too Jazzy! I know that would be awesome, once we all graduate from the nursing program we should definitely meet up! I'll let you know how the program goes & keep us updated on Prarie View :)
  11. Hey guys :) How are you doing Jazzynurse2b? I declined my acceptance at UTMB, so there is an open spot out there for someone :) I'm gonna miss you ms.sealy, but I know we will keep in touch.:typing Again Congratulations to everyone on their acceptance!
  12. As of now we can only calculate Exam 1,2,3 & Quizzes 1,2 & 3. Then whatever points you get subtract it by 490 & then you know what you need to make on the final :)
  13. you can do it Ayeisha. I feel bad for the people who need to make over a 90.....but the goal is still reachable they just have to study their butts off!!!! Well I just calculated 490 divided by 7. Because we will have seven grades she is going to calculate to see if we meet the weighted average of a 70. So she will calculate Quiz 1,2,3 & Exam 1,2,3 & 4 these points need to be over a 490. Then divide 490 by 7 and it will equal a 70 on the dot! Then she will add in our blog project grade if our exams/quizzes are a 70% or higher.
  14. yes ours is cumulative and its 94 questions, we have 30 questions that are from new content. I started studying over thanksgiving break lol I made a plan for each section so I think I will do good on the final...I hope! Wow they gave you 1.5 min to answer each question ahhhhh @ least it was 75 ours is 94 questions!!!
  15. Hey goopsy I forgot did you take Pharm online or in class in the summer? and if so how was the final? was it really hard!
