UTMB Summer '09 Applicants

Published

I'm wondering who applied for the UTMB Summer 2009 semester, and if they have received any news from UTMB. My status says "pending", and all my information was received. I don't know how big the applicant pool is considering the hurricane. I haven't seen any news on here about UTMB recently, so anything is appreciated. Thanks.

No, I was going to call UTMB tomorrow and going to talk to my current professors tomorrow as well. I was just wondering if you had any suggestions

What class is it if you dont mind me asking? I'm sure they'll be flexible with your schedule Hope it works out for you!

Lucky,

First off congratulations! I am in the same situation. I have a hesi exam on the same day at my present school. I talked to **** and was told to get with her or Dr. ****** during orientation so they can get with our instructors. They will excuse it for that day. As for financial aid, looks like I will have to put books and supplies on a credit card and pay it off when they cut the check. I spoke to financial aid and they said that they can't cut a check til I am registered and they get what they need first. The nursing dept has to register you and that will probably happen the day before orientation. That is not long enough before financial aid can cut a check for the remaining balance to take care of books, etc. Good luck, everything will work itself out.

Thanks so much Alex and RocketsSON!

Alex: Have you already bought all your books and PDA along with the programs yet? I was reading back and noticed that some people said there are some packages we have to buy directly from the book store. I am just wondering so that I know if I should order them online, or wait to get them from UTMB Book store.

Thanks

You don't have to have a PDA, actually you might have a hard time finding one. Most retail stores dont sell them (best buy, office depot, etc...) I didn't exactly want to carry more than one device around so I confirmed that it was okay to have a smart phone. I already have one so that was great news for me. You probably already have a cell phone too but if you don't have a smart phone, now may be the time to upgrade. It may save you some money and you'll have a cool phone to boot. The skyscape programs are compatible with blackberry, iphone, palm, or any windows based operating system. The software is offered at a discount thru utmb online link to skyscape. I received an email from Ms. Webster confirming that it was okay to use a smartphone just that it the phone part of it needs to be able to be shut off due to telemetry that may get interference. I have yet to buy my books because I was waiting to talk with someone that graduates this year to see what they have to offer :) I'll know by tomorrow, so either way I plan to make a trip to UTMB and familiarize myself abit on Thursday. Anyone want to meet around noon? I hate feeling lost especially on the first day.

I was wondering if the Tmobile G1 will work instead of a PDA or the I-Touch. Does anyone know?

Won't work. The G1 uses android operating system. Skyscape only supports blackberry, itouch/phone, symbian os, windows os/smartphone, or palm. Sorry.

I have a question for UTMB nursing school. What is the required entrance exams, NET/HESI/TEAS? I'm still waiting for the BSN application to be open. Can one apply for both 22months and 15 months BSN at the same time. My gpa is 3.4 and science gpa 3.75 do i have a good chance of getting in? I had 84% on the NET, yet to take HESI.

I'm a CNA and seriously do not want to retake any class...its costly
