I'm wondering who applied for the UTMB Summer 2009 semester, and if they have received any news from UTMB. My status says "pending", and all my information was received. I don't know how big the applicant pool is considering the hurricane. I haven't seen any news on here about UTMB recently, so anything is appreciated. Thanks.

Hello! I have applied to UTMB for Summer 2009 and also have not heard anything yet. My application status says pending also, but it says they have not recieved my TSI scores. I called them about this and they said that those take a while to post, so now I am a bit concerned that yours is all complete. But anyhow, I was told that we will not be hearing anything until Feb. So let's hang in there and pray for the best!
I guess It's because I was exempt from the college entrance exams with my TAAS scores from the test I took in high school. It doesn't seem like too many people applied for the summer (probably due to the hurricane). I didn't apply until late November. I didn't even realize they were accepting applications for the Summer. I've heard that the summer admissions are new to UTMB, but I'm not completely sure. Hopefully we both get in because rejection is heart breaking. I also love the fact that if (when) I get in, I will have my BSN in 15 months. Amazing. I don't think you should worry too much about the scores posting. UTMB seems to be really understanding, and I hear that it's a great school.
Yeah, I am going to call them again, as the last time I spoke to them about the test scores was a while back. I really do hope we both get in too! I am really looking forward to going there and have my heart set there. Let's just wait...i'm getting so impatient. Have you applied anywhere else? I know their applicant pool is pretty large, but the people told me that they only accept around 30 students, so i'm scared. Let's seeee!
I applied for fall 2009 as well, and I applied at UT-Houston for fall. I really want to get in for the summer. I just sent my fall application in a few days ago, and it says they haven't received my supporting statement. I had it in the application, so I might call to see what the deal is. Then again, it could be because my application isn't fully processed for 2 weeks. I might not get any answers until then.
The main thing I'm worried about is my lack of health experience. I hear that UTMB prefers to accept people with experience. How is your GPA?
I hope we get in. Have you applied anywhere else?
I can't move too far away from Houston because of my husbands job, and I want a BSN. There are only a couple of choices...
Well, I have applied to a few others school for Fall 2009, such as Prairie View and UT Houston as well, but I really want to get in here.
I do not have much health experience either, so that is a downside for me as well. My GPA is 3.3, which is not that strong. I do however wish I had revised my supporting statement more, but I believe it is too late for that.
What is your GPA?

Hello fellow applicants,
I also have applied to Summer and Fall 09. I also know of about 20 in the local Galveston area who have applied also. I think they have the usual 500 applicants per class and will accept the usual 50-60 for each. I am pinning my hopes on Fall 09. I am still doing the last pre-req of nursing patho in Spring 09 at community college. It doesn't finish until 16 may and since the summer semester starts 3 may 09 I am pretty sure I am out for summer 09. But I am hoping for a miracle exception by the school but supposedly I wont even be considered and that sucks. But I should be fine for Fall. Anyway if anyone gets an interview date please pass it on. I am checking email and E-connect but not sure how they will notify us and how much advance warning they will give us. Okay good luck to all and gonna hold my breath until this process is over LOL!
My prereq GPA is a 3.5, and my science is a 3.67. I took patho fall '08, and I made an A. Hopefully I get an interview. I have my heart set on this, so it would be a bummer not to get in. I'll keep you posted on anything that happens.
I'm glad I read that classes start May 3. I had registered at a community college for pharm and ethics (to help me with my UT-Houston application). Guess I'm gonna have to drop them. Ah, now I'm really putting everything on the line with this. I hope it's worth it. If I were to take the classes, and if I got in UTMB it wouldn't work. Classes don't end until May 10. 1 week. seriously. At least I get a break from school for a couple months.
Hey Bazooka, that class you were gonna take should be okay I think. The only reason mine effects me is because it is a pre-req and all of those must be complete by first day of classes as per the student handbook on website. But that ethics class isnt required by UTMB and I am sure that first week is all orientation so little classwork I believe. Also last week of semester is usually just studying for your final so I think your safe taking something as long as it isnt a UTMB pre-req. Thats my opinion. Also I think you have a good shot with your GPA because it is better than mine. I have a 3.56GPA and science 3.3. I was told last class average was 3.3 overall not sure on science gpa average. I do know people who have been accepted with low 3's.:wink2:
Yeah, I called UTMB. They said that they will still review my application, and it shouldn't be a problem. I told them that one of the classes is on-line, and the other is once a week. I'm still going to take the classes because they will help me. My professors will probably work with me if I get in. Thanks for the advice! I was a little paranoid, and then I thought about it.
Wow, i'm glad I got a lot of good information from you guys. I was also not aware that classes started on May 3rd. I guess I am out for summer because I am signed up for Pathophysiology Online for Spring 2009. I hope this really works out for me. I will post if I find anything out. Hope you guys will do the same! Good luck to everyone!
