UTMB Spring 2012

Published

Hey Guys!

I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread for all UTMB Galveston's Spring 2012 traditional bsn applicants. Have you all started to apply yet or at least looked at the application? What do you think? How are your personal statements/testing going? If you guys have anything worth discussing please post and good luck to all!

For the guys n gals in the program,

Congrats on your admission . I have been looking a lot at this program lately since I have a good friend in houston. Just wondering what u think my chances r of getting in. I have a 3.3 cgpa and 3.0 sgpa. I have yet to take chem n micro. I have everything else, including in aa here from Florida. I am currently an Emt at an ambulance company here in Florida and have been for 2years. I will be making a huge move leaving without no job. I'm also a male if it matters at all. I'm looking to get into the fall 12 bsn n taking last pre reqs in the spring.

Specializes in Psych, OB-GYN.
Hey! I have been stalking the boards for the past month. I was accepted right after the second round of interviews and received my packet in my e-mail just the other day!! So I decided it was time to create an account. I will be driving from the Texas Medical Center (Old Spanish Trail area), let me know if anyone is looking to car pool? Does anyone know what our schedule will be like? I heard that Monday-Wed we have class and Thursday-Saturday are clinical days. Has anyone else heard anything?

Depends, changes every semester. I have class every w/th. Clinical is every other m/t. On weeks I'm not in clinical, I'm on campus at lab. Check off days are 30 min long. Every Fri is off. Some clinicals are m/f, f/s or just sat every week.

the last thing i heard from TS was that no acceptance letters had gone out since thursday but that was monday...

i didnt ask her about rejections but i got a fast response from her maybe you could try emailing her?

Thanks for the info. Well at least I know no other letters have gone out so I suppose that's a good thing. Im still holding out for good news. I was debating about it, but I guess I'll call in the AM. Nervous about them remembering my name for the wrong reason and feeling bugged. Lol

Lavender: you haven't heard anything either? I'm still holding out. I actually got accepted into Houston Baptist University's BSN program, but I prefer UTMB so my fingers are still crossed >.

Yes I'm still waiting. At least I know I'm not alone, a small sigh of relief. It seems as tho everyone on here has already been accepted and are making plans for financial aid and housing. Rocket_Ryder posted last Saturday that her friend unfortunately received a rejection letter that day so I've been TERRIFIED to check my mail everyday, but so far nothing. So as long as there isn't then I guess I live to fight on another day Lol! So you spoke with TS and they're having another meeting on Friday? Well I was also told that my application was supposed to be reviewed last Monday, then I called Friday and was told that it was t actually done until Thursday, but I still haven't heard anything either way. A few in the BACC-2 program have gotten acceptances and interviews from looking at their forum. I actually got to know one of the people accepted from the forums and she had all, but given up when she received her acceptance on Monday. Not sure how the meetings go. If at each meeting they look at the 2 programs separately? I guess if I don't hear anything today I'll call tomorrow and try to get an update. I always get nevi's about calling. Worried about calling "too much" don't want them to remember my name for the Wrong reason. If I hear anything I'll definitely post it.

yeah everyone is talking about housing and classes, but there are still some of us who are waiting! lol

LavenderButterfly if you get any news please post! i am also nervous about calling/emailing again because i dont want to bother them (:

hi pls can anyone tell me the best teas study book to buy and also best hesi a2 book to yuse cause i will want to take both exam towards the end of next month.thanks

For the TEAS V, ATI actually makes a stugy guide. It was totally worth the money. Here is a link to the book. ( http://www.atitesting.com/ati_store/product.aspx?zpid=1194 ) I know it can be purchase elsewhere for cheaper, and I didnt buy the practice tests but that was just preference. Same with the Hesi book, made by Hesi for the Hesi.. ( http://www.amazon.com/Evolve-Reach-Admission-Assessment-Review/dp/tags-on-product/1416056351 )Most of the ?s came straight from the material in this hesi study guide.

Yes its definitely good to know there are others still waiting, I was feeling pretty left out lol. And no I spoke to T.C., or maybe its E.C. , i know it ends with C haha, but she emailed me the same that it would be reviewed last monday, but now they say friday. They also told me after friday it would be 2-3 weeks before i heard anything! Which I know can't be true as fast as everyone was getting invited, interviewed and accepted the last two weeks. So I'm not sure, theyre giving the run around. But yeah, since everyone else moved to FB lets try an keep eachother posted :-)

Thanks Rocket ryder, your reply help me in purchasing my books. I also want to know if pharmacology or pathophysiology part of ur prereq before admission.

Patho/Pharm was not part of my pre reqs... but I think either can be used as the elective science credit... mine was Botony. I have attached a link for you to find all listed pre-reqs to be completed by enrollment time... I know 40 of the 60 MUST be completed by application deadline I believe and all 60 MUST be completed before you can enroll and they DO ask for PROOF of completion before you can start...

Not ALL of us habe moved onto FB... I am here as well :) I still check in to keep those of you not on facebook updated incase I gather a meet and greet fro us.. I am thinking maybe the week/weekend before christmas. Maybe we could even do a white elephant get together with dinner and drinks :) Could be a fun way to break the ice and get to know one another!!!

How was your class Botony? They said it can only be Patho, Chemistry, or General Biology.
