UTMB Spring 2012

Published

Hey Guys!

I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread for all UTMB Galveston's Spring 2012 traditional bsn applicants. Have you all started to apply yet or at least looked at the application? What do you think? How are your personal statements/testing going? If you guys have anything worth discussing please post and good luck to all!

Are you sure we need a 58 on each section? They told me we just need at least a 58 overall. I hate how they did not let me know this at first. I have made an 84 overall score, but made a 50 on the grammar and now I have no time to retake the TEAS test. I have everything in and even have an overall GPA of 3.7. OMG now I'm really worried and scared...I don't know what to do!

Just throwing this out there...the overall score of 58% is an average of all sections...so that being said..in order to get an average of 58% then most likely some section scores are going to be below a 58....

thanks that does make a little sense, but does anyone know for sure?

Hi! I am going between applying for the BSN or the bacc2 program. I definitely want to go to utmb. I just took the TEAS and will be finishing up my app this week. There is some good info on this thread that I did not know so I'm glad I found it!

WELCOME :D

Would you mind sharing your overall GPA and TEAS scores?

I called and they said minimum 58 on each section to be competitive. You can put in your application with less, but that is what they told me to be competitive and why I retook my test. I have heard though different people hear different things depending on who answers the phone that day. This is just what I was told, so I thought I would pass it on. Maybe try calling and see what they say? You have a great GPA, so maybe that will balance everything out. If you go to the UTMB Fall 2011 forum, you will see nothing is consistent.

I have a 3.7 overall and 4.0 in the sciences. I scored a 78% on the TEAS.

I have a 3.7 overall and a 4.0 in the sciences. I scored a 78% on the TEAS. Does anyone have work experience related to nursing or community service that they've participated in to help their application?

I don't have sdirect medical experience with humans, but I worked for a veterinarian for almost 3 years and that is what sparked my interest...

"i called and was told an overall competitive score was 75-80. then on each section they said no lower than 58. i got an overall 75 but a 54 in science so i have to take it over." :crying2:

hey i read your previous post and noticed you said that they looked at our science score heavily which in your case is below a 58 so you are not competitive. however, then you mentioned that each section should not be below a 58. i am a little confused on this part. are you sure they told you each section or just the science. if you can elaborate on this, it would be really helpful to me.

the way they explained it, each section as in reading, math, science, grammar. for example, my science was 54% but then i had higher than that in the sections under the overall science score. i had 75% in scientific reasoning for example. the ati adjusts your score for some weird reason that does not equal to the four science sections averaged together. i am not sure if this is making sense or not? there is the overall score at the top right, and then each section has an overall score, and below each section overall score are 4 more section scores? i wish i could post a picture to help, but that is the best i can describe it. i was told mostly science and reading scores are looked at after the overall score in the top right of the results paper. again, i have heard it depends on who you talk to, so may want to call the school and ask. btw, i retook and got a higher score, so hopefully i am good to go now, but i am sure it does not look good that i had to take twice to get the competitive score.

That sucks because my science was a 57 and now i have to take this test over which im not happy about. Hope no one is applying to TWU because they only let you test once so this would disqualify us all. On UTMB website they list an 58 percent minimum composite score. They should have posted that they wanted 58% on each category. I scheduled to take it tomorrow because they only have June 7 and the 15 at the West location.
