UTMB Spring 2012

Published

Hey Guys!

I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread for all UTMB Galveston's Spring 2012 traditional bsn applicants. Have you all started to apply yet or at least looked at the application? What do you think? How are your personal statements/testing going? If you guys have anything worth discussing please post and good luck to all!

D.L.T talked about the bypassing of interviews in rare cases like this.... Must have a 4.0 gpa and 95% or higher on the Teas V and ZERO withdrawals from courses on record.

Wish I hadn't made so many mistakes out of high school :(

My interview is at 9am in the morning and I am SUPER nervous. I just know I am NOT going to get ANY sleep tonight....

dont be nervous at all!! questions are simple!!! that just want to get to know you!!! be truthful about everything!!! i had mine september 9th and it was great!!!

for some reason im not nervous ... im pretty sure on the drive down there i will be but im just gonna be natural and let my true personality shine ...just give it your all and b yourself ....if u give it your all thats still not enough then utmb isnt the place for u .... u will find another school that will better suite u :) thats the way im thinking of it

Thanks Ariel007. My interview is on Thursday and my nerves are starting to kick in now. I'm really scared and hope I don't say anything wrong...:uhoh21:

One thing I made sure to do was arrive 30 minutes before my interview. I took my time getting there because the last thing I wanted was to feel rushed. I'm glad I did because my nerves were getting the best of me and I was very anxious, but sitting in the room with the other applicants, talking, and sipping on some water really calmed me down and by the time I was called back, I felt much more relaxed :) The interviewers are all very nice and really do make you feel at home. The interview felt more like a regular conversation than the typical 'question/answer' interview. Good luck to all that have theirs this week! You'll do great!:yeah:

thank you guys so much for your advice and guidance. i'm glad that we all have a way to communicate with each other. also, did anybody bring anything with them for their interviews? this is my first interview, so i’m not sure if i have to bring something or not.

as for those of you who are still waiting for either interviews or acceptance letters, hang in there...i hope u here something soon.

EmilyR u will do just fine :)

I received this email from the person EC who sent me the second Interview Invite:

Sometimes we make an error. I apologize.

We will not ask you to return for another interview.

My friend got a second interview as well. Pretty lame considering the drive is pretty far. I still have not received an interview, but I am not worrying about it because I don't want the stress lol

Your friend needs to contact the person that sent the second Invite to him because I was told it was an error on there part so just a heads up.

It is done... I had my interview at 9am this morning :) It wasnt bad AT ALL! I liked the guy who interviewed me and he made it pretty easy to relax. I am unsure of how exactly it went, but I feel ok about it. He said I was a very strong candidate :) The questions were pretty expected. Nothing really caught me off guard.

I met a forum 'lurker' on my way out...you know who you are ;) You should post up and introduce yourself!

I have officially done everything in my power to try and secure a spot.... Now time to kick back and let the motions play out. He said he was not sure when I would hear anything but that he did know that they are trying to get things rolling along quickly.

Hopefully everyone hears something soon :) Good luck to all those that have interviews scheduled!

My interview is tomorrow at 1130. For those of you who have already interviewed, do I need to bring my transcripts or anything? Is there any pointers you can give like what types of questions they ask you? Is it just a one on one interview?

I'm getting a little nervous but I'm trying to stay calm and collected. I have to make a speech in speech class today, so I'm hoping that will help ease my nerves about talking in front of people. :uhoh3:

Who else has interviews tomorrow?:nurse:

To answer some of your questions...

I brought my transcripts just in case, but they didn't ask to see them or even ask about my grades... Better to bring them and not need them than to need them and not have them...

It is just a one on one interview, sort of like a job interview but are very friendly about it. I don't think it would be fair to reveal the actual questions...since I was told they ask everyone the same questions, but they are typical questions you could expect to be asked. Just run through possible questions you would ask if you were interviewing potential candidates.

Just relax, arrive with plenty of time and don't forget your cash, like I did! Had to make a last minute trip to an ATM on the way there and ate up my extra time I allowed myself :(

Despite the nail biting and all the unknown I did at least feel as though I was an applicant worthy of an interview invite and I knew if invited they would get to know me as a person and that would only add to whats on paper.

Well now I guess I know why that never happened. As I stated in a previous lost for some unknown reason I haven't been able to log into MyStar recently, this made me nervous AMD suspicious. I called today and was told that she could see my info in MyStar BUT NOT in the Nursing Dept. database! HUH?!? I do know that they had it at one point from me calling to check on my application and being told that it had not been reviewed and now all of a sudden it's gone?!? Well we all know that doesn't mean good news. I was told that she couldnt explain or didnt know why this was and that my info would be passed along to the coordinator and she would give me a call back. I know that she's doing interviews today so not sure when if that may happen, on top of her being busy with everyone else's info. I'm still trying to find out about my MyStar (I feared this is why it was not working) or ANY information that I can. What I really want to know is if ALL of my info was received and processed properly, because I have had a few issues with enrollment services regarding that fact. However it seems as though my worst fears have been confirmed! DEVASTATED!
