Hey Guys!
I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread for all UTMB Galveston's Spring 2012 traditional bsn applicants. Have you all started to apply yet or at least looked at the application? What do you think? How are your personal statements/testing going? If you guys have anything worth discussing please post and good luck to all!
I would rather just stay confused on how they issue out Interviews because we would never know how it's done behind close doors. I came to the conclusion that the he/say she/say has no truth behind it. I think I'm losing my mind over the wait though to be honest i check my Iphone everytime it beeps letting me know I have a new email. I thought waiting for an Interview was dreadful, but I take that back becuase now I'm waiting on my fate.....Overwhelmed!!!! Hopefully the next round of Interviews go today and good luck to the others waiting on there fate.

I asked today and they said that the next round wont go out till next week. I dnt think nobody knows whats going on smh.
I call BS on that. LoL. Myself and 2 other friends applied at the same time and only 1 of us got an interview for the first round. How is that possible?! We all have similar grades / teas v score.
They're not referring to the date that you submitted your application. It takes some time for the school to process each individual application, and once completed they send the complete applications in batches to the actual board at the college of nursing which will conduct interviews and carry out the selection process.

That actually makes a lot of sense...all of them being jumbled up from Enrollment services then sent over to SON in batches and then they just take it from there... From what I gathered Enrollment services is quite disorganized. and since the people doing the selection and interviews are probably all the teaching staff as well everything is probably super hectic trying to get it all sorted into interview sessions....not to mention finding the time to read all 800+ (or however many there are) applications and personal statements...
With that said, though, I wish they would give us specified dates on when the batches of interview invites are to be sent out and a deifinte date for acceptances to be sent out, so at least we could set our sights on a certain day...instead of thinking and feeling "well....maybe tomorrow...."
I am currently in COM's ADN program and I actually find it HARD to focus because I am thinking about UTMB so much....and with it being football season, ALL the freaking stores around me have UT stuff EVERYWHERE! I feel like its taunting me. I went to walmart to by packing tape last week and they literally have longhorn packing tape...I almost cried ....LOL
Hi everyone : )So...hoping emails go out soon! Does everyone know what type of outfit they will wear? I know business but how formal? Those that interviewed what did you wear and why were others wearing? Any suits or just business professional dress? Like skirt or slacks and nice shirt?
Also someone told me they were told by someone at the school that the first batch of applicants were those with a 3.7 or 3.6 and higher pre req and/or those who were in the work study program at utmb. They also told her that drops on transcripts hurt a lot and she may not have a great chance of getting interviewed because of that?!!!! However, I have a friend who got an interview with a 3.7, 4.0 science, and had drops, even some sciences. So...? Thoughts? I also noticed some who got interviews had gpa's lower than 3.6 so I'm
Not sure if any of that is true!
I'm flattered, but this isn't true in my case... I have a 3.4 GPA and 74.9% TEAS score. I also turned my app in about week before deadline, but was in the first round. I think their is no rhyme or reason to the way we get interviews... I was hoping that being in the first batch was a good sign, but after talking to the SON office I think it doesn't matter... Its all computerized, from what they say...lol
I was so hoping that we would get acceptance letters today, because from what I read on previous threads they seemed to go out on Tuesdays and it took 1-2 weeks to get them.
Keeping my fingers crossed for all of us!!!:yeah:
Yeah definitely a good point! I live wayyy on the corner of 610 N. Loop and 290. So moving is definitely a must for me. But like you said, half the time is in clinical and the other half is in school. So i'm wondering if it would be better to live on the island or somewhere in between such as league city. I'm leaning more towards the island though because if I can live close enough, I'd waste virtually no gas, except the two long drives for clinical. I'm open to getting a roommate or renting a room from someone.
I live in Mont Belvieu, right outside of Baytown and have a family and home so we won't be moving. It takes me about 35-40 minutes to get to the Island, of course depending on morning traffic in Seabrook and Kemah so I'm thinking the drive every day will be fine.
If it were me, I would live somewhere in between because Galveston to Houston on the way in and out can be hectic, especially with traffic at 610 and 45. Its going to take enough time just to get through that in rush hour!
