UTMB Spring 2012

Published

Hey Guys!

I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread for all UTMB Galveston's Spring 2012 traditional bsn applicants. Have you all started to apply yet or at least looked at the application? What do you think? How are your personal statements/testing going? If you guys have anything worth discussing please post and good luck to all!

My boyfriend just started the program this semester, i checked his email and he got his acceptance by email on a Tuesday... Fingers crossed that that was our acceptance!! I guess all we cam do is wait until morning and call and see what that email was about. Hopes up!! :)

I agree I also read that we will get a need MyStar once were admitted. I saw this on the MyStar website so I'm hoping that is what this email is about......

I just called and they said that the email was not from the School of Nursing. They have no idea why the email was sent. I also asked if she knew about when we will find out and she said she's guessing in October as we were only the first round of interviews and they have more... I know last semester my boyfriend found out two weeks after his interview... before another round had even been notified that they were going to get an interview.

Thank you for the update about the email!!! I was freaking out..! I heard 2 to 4 weeks we should know, so either before october or early october. Back to the waiting game. :redbeathe

Hi everyone! I've been following this forum for a while now...it has been really helpful to know other people are feeling the same way I am right now!...:( Congratulations on all the people who got interviews!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 I guess everyones waiting again.

Well to take everyone's mind off of everything while we wait, lets talk about what we would do IF we get in... are ya'll planning on living on campus, moving to the island and getting an apt, getting a roomate, or commuting? :monkeydance:

Hello tiff! :grpwlcm:

Hi everyone : )

So...hoping emails go out soon! Does everyone know what type of outfit they will wear? I know business but how formal? Those that interviewed what did you wear and why were others wearing? Any suits or just business professional dress? Like skirt or slacks and nice shirt?

Also someone told me they were told by someone at the school that the first batch of applicants were those with a 3.7 or 3.6 and higher pre req and/or those who were in the work study program at utmb. They also told her that drops on transcripts hurt a lot and she may not have a great chance of getting interviewed because of that?!!!! However, I have a friend who got an interview with a 3.7, 4.0 science, and had drops, even some sciences. So...? Thoughts? I also noticed some who got interviews had gpa's lower than 3.6 so I'm

Not sure if any of that is true!

---there were a variety of outfits anywhere from business suits to more casual business.

I'm not sure about the order for interviews but it seems like a variety of gpas were in the first batch!

If I get in I will be commuting from League City area. I have a family and own a home so moving to the island is not an option for me. Plus, if we are only at the school 2-4 days per week and at clinicals 2 days a week if not at school, I think it may be better to live in between. Clinicals could be anywhere from Galveston to Houston and Houston is a long drive all the way from Galv!

Yeah definitely a good point! I live wayyy on the corner of 610 N. Loop and 290. So moving is definitely a must for me. But like you said, half the time is in clinical and the other half is in school. So i'm wondering if it would be better to live on the island or somewhere in between such as league city. I'm leaning more towards the island though because if I can live close enough, I'd waste virtually no gas, except the two long drives for clinical. I'm open to getting a roommate or renting a room from someone.

For those still waiting to hear about invites. I wrote an advisor and she told me that the invites are totally random. It depends on when the application was received from the Enrollment Services.

I call BS on that. LoL. Myself and 2 other friends applied at the same time and only 1 of us got an interview for the first round. How is that possible?! We all have similar grades / teas v score.

I turned my app in the day before the deadline and had an interview.
