UTMB Spring/Summer 2019

Hi I know it's a few months early, but have anyone started getting their application/essay ready to apply to UTMB for 2019? Lol I'm nervous looking at blogs from previous years. I'm also scared to take the TEAS. I plan on applying for Summer 2019.

Nevermind, I emailed the school and they said it is accepted. Yay!

From those I have talked to, say the same. The commute isn't that bad and my friend that moved there for the program said it was unnecessary because you do the clinical everywhere anyway. So you will go back and forth off the island anyway. Yes, it makes getting to class more convenient and fast, but it doesn't seem to be too difficult. You just have to do whats best for you. I will be commuting because of my family and stay over sometimes.

You've posted such awesome comments regarding commuting. If I get accepted I'll be commuting daily from north Spring/ south Woodlands area. I also have two little boys. Thank you so much for sharing your insight on being a commuting student. Also, Congratulations!

So is it safe to assume now we can start waiting for Summer 2019 interviews to start rolling in? I've seen it before in this thread a little bit, but would anyone mind sharing their timeline from application submission to interview email?

Yep, you are now waiting for interview invites. I would say it is about a month between app closing and the first interview invites. Then the next round is usually a month from the first. Of course this could be earlier or later, but that seems to be the timeline. The wait is crazy! Be prepared to check your mystar and email constantly, lol. Even when your not trying to you will, lol. Remember not to get discouraged if you get a denial. There are other schools and don't be afraid to ask what you can do to be a better applicant. Good luck and God bless you on your journey.

Do they still do Waitlist Interviews? I'm on the waitlist for Spring but I interviewed for admission, not to be on the waitlist. I know a couple of people who have not heard back from UTMB for Spring, and also no one on here has been denied (yet). Is the process changing?

Hi yall spoke to the Counselor early this week, and she said that they are still doing another round of interviews (non waitlist interviews). the latest anyone should receive email is around November.

88 overall on TEAS, 4.0 in nursing pre-reqs...and i've also been a patient in the hospital multiple times due to surgery for a chronic illness, which we talked a lot about how i bring that perspective and the desire to make a change in nursing compared to how my care was. what about you?

Did anyone else receive an email to do a background check and fingerprints? I find it really odd because I never received an interview or anything.
