UTMB Fall 2011 Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi everyone! Just thought I'd start a thread for those who are applying to UTMB for Fall 2011. There are some really great (and long!) threads out there for Spring 2011 and earlier...but as I'm sure y'all know, the application process can change from cycle to cycle, plus it's just nice to have a new thread for us. :) So feel free to post questions, comments, or anything related to applications!

I'm applying as a second-degree student to UTMB, UTHSC, TWU (Houston), UT Arlington and A&M, plus maybe the new Texas State program. Whew! I keep hearing great things about UTMB so that might be my #1....

A question to start us off: so we can now use either the centralized NursingCAS application, or the application through UTMB, right? :uhoh3: What are you all going to do? I'm thinking of just doing UTMB's direct application....if you do NursingCAS, I think you'll have to do a supplemental UTMB application+fee anyway, so you might as well just do it all once...thoughts?

I was waitlisted..Hopefully a spot becomes available!!

I think I'm the only one here that is going to receive a rejection letter.. how absolutely deflating is that?? I wish they'd just have sent it right away.. and speaking of rejection, when WILL they send it?

mjmoon, dont get discouraged. i also got a rejection letter and I am pretty depressed about it. If they havent sent it, there is hope!! Keep it strong and maybe you'll get in.

I have no idea why I didnt get accepted. I was in the 90th percentile, with a 3.6 GPA and an even higher science GPA. It must have been something I said at the interview... I am also left stuck taking classes only required by utmb. I will reapply, just because I am left with no other option though. Congrats to everyone else!

I didn't receive any notification about anything until June 8, and they asked me to come for an interview the next day...I found out Friday, June 10th that I was IN!! I am SO excited! CONGRATS to everyone who made it, and BEST of luck to those who are either waiting or will have to reapply...STAY positive! I cannot wait to meet everyone in the UTMB Fall 2011 starting class :) Anyone here already in Houston?

Guruamrit,

It sounds like your scores and GPA were high enough to get you an interview, so I guess it was something about the interview that maybe didn't make it an automatic yes? Don't get discouraged, let it be a practice interview for the next time!! Keep your head up!!!!

I still haven't heard anything and still praying for the best. Some schools just take a while to send out notifications and what not. I graduated from UT-Austin and not everyone heard About their acceptance, even top 10%, at the same time. Keep your head up! I'm still hoping for good news!!

I'm near Ellington if you're interested in commuting.

Thank you i am an Army brat so i know that sacrifices that Army wives make. Right now i am Active duty stationed at an Rotc at UH. Since i have been accepted i will be separating in Aug and transfering to the reserves or Guard at Ellington. I live near Pearland and beltway so i will be passing that way. We already having something in common my fiancee in Afghanistan as a contractor and is also in the AF reserves. So you already have a classmate that understands what you are going through. Do you have any kids i have a 4 yr old

That may be a good idea! It's a bit of a hike, wouldn't hurt to save a little gas :)
