UTMB Fall 2011 Applicants

Hi everyone! Just thought I'd start a thread for those who are applying to UTMB for Fall 2011. There are some really great (and long!) threads out there for Spring 2011 and earlier...but as I'm sure y'all know, the application process can change from cycle to cycle, plus it's just nice to have a new thread for us. :) So feel free to post questions, comments, or anything related to applications!

I'm applying as a second-degree student to UTMB, UTHSC, TWU (Houston), UT Arlington and A&M, plus maybe the new Texas State program. Whew! I keep hearing great things about UTMB so that might be my #1....

A question to start us off: so we can now use either the centralized NursingCAS application, or the application through UTMB, right? What are you all going to do? I'm thinking of just doing UTMB's direct application....if you do NursingCAS, I think you'll have to do a supplemental UTMB application+fee anyway, so you might as well just do it all once...thoughts?

Hi my application was supposedly submitted on March 01, 2011... I still had not heard anything on Thursday I sent an email demanding a response, that sent back and said they sent my letter back in the middle of May "to the wrong address" So here I have been waiting for three months why couldn't someone told me this the last 30 times I've asked.... Very Frustrating process!!!

If you read many of these blogs, you will realize that you are not alone. UTMB may be the oldest medical school, but the least organized one.

I'm applying for spring. For those of you who received acceptance letters or emails can message me your teas score or overall gpa or share with the thread. And if all your prerequisites where complete or not?

Teas: 85.3%

GPA: 3.41

Science: 3.5

All of my prereqs were complete. - But you only need 40 hours to apply.

At UTMB's open house, they lady stated that in the Spring they will only look at 1 combined GPA. Please call UTMB to verify.

I never got anything from this school, No calls. No emails (other than the star system that I can not log into anymore) and no reject letters! ***** I'm not even worthy of a reject letter on official letterhead. How pathetic is that?

You need to call them, the same thing happened to me... I finally emailed and demanded a response and they had actually mailed my letter almost three months ago to a wrong address. Uugh!!

mjmoon, dont get discouraged. i also got a rejection letter and I am pretty depressed about it. If they havent sent it, there is hope!! Keep it strong and maybe you'll get in.

I have no idea why I didnt get accepted. I was in the 90th percentile, with a 3.6 GPA and an even higher science GPA. It must have been something I said at the interview... I am also left stuck taking classes only required by utmb. I will reapply, just because I am left with no other option though. Congrats to everyone else!

Thank you! I called UTMB to find out why I heard absolutely NOTHING from them and found out they didn't recieve my transcripts until mid-MARCH! I did the request well before the deadline and apparently I got lost in their ridiculously unorganized process. I asked the woman why the Star said my stuff was complete and she said that just meant they got my actual application, not that they received all my other things. I should have called and verified things earlier than I did... but I honestly didn't think my chances were that good having 2 of my sciences in progress and having dropped Chem to take in the summer. Now that I'm finished with everything I went to apply for Spring and realized the deadline was freaking JUNE 15th. Seriously?? Almost SEVEN months before the semester begins? All the others are September. I thought UTMB was the same. I think the nursing Gods are trying to tell me UTMB is not my school.

I'm hinging my hopes on TWU, UTH and as a back up, COM for spring. With all my classes done, there isn't anything else I can do.

Yes...June 15th is mighty early for a Spring start; UTA's was June 1st. What's awful about this is that you won't know your fate until late Fall. Where's the logic in that?? Go figure.
