Hi everyone! Just thought I'd start a thread for those who are applying to UTMB for Fall 2011. There are some really great (and long!) threads out there for Spring 2011 and earlier...but as I'm sure y'all know, the application process can change from cycle to cycle, plus it's just nice to have a new thread for us. :) So feel free to post questions, comments, or anything related to applications!
I'm applying as a second-degree student to UTMB, UTHSC, TWU (Houston), UT Arlington and A&M, plus maybe the new Texas State program. Whew! I keep hearing great things about UTMB so that might be my #1....
A question to start us off: so we can now use either the centralized NursingCAS application, or the application through UTMB, right? What are you all going to do? I'm thinking of just doing UTMB's direct application....if you do NursingCAS, I think you'll have to do a supplemental UTMB application+fee anyway, so you might as well just do it all once...thoughts?
well my interviewer asked me a question and i kinda answered wrong cuz i was so nervous.. but was so nice. i dont even know what to expect i feel like i should of gave a more longer response... but we shall seeeeeeeeeee. >__
Ya don't worry I felt the same on a question or two but I answered the best I could and that's whats important. Just relax and don't worry Im sure we did fine hmm Did I see you in the hall way when you were done and I was just getting started?
@ T. Chang= Are you thinking about living on or off campus if you get accepted? I haven't decided and I feel like I need to start looking into it. I live an hr away you know, which would be 2hrs there and back...just curious lol

@ Punkydoodles= Hang in there!! from what you've said your highly qualified to get in and the lady said theyll finish up interviews close to the end of April around the time letters are sent so there's plenty of time left!!:)

Tiki, mine came via e-mail yesterday. I was hoping you had heard something...I was at the same Open House as you. I am guessing you were the guy down front since we were the only two there with applications for Fall.
those with interviews, what are your stats (TEAS/GPA)?
i'm 91/3.8 and have heard nothing, my last name starts with an "s" but that's pretty elementary if they were doing things alphabetically.
My science GPA is a 4.0 and my overall is a 3.8. I got a 92 on the TEAS. Have you called UTMB to make sure your application packet was sent to SON? There are some wonderful people at SON who will double check for you. I am glad I checked because they did not have my packet at first.
I heard via phone call actually---she called to let me know and confirm the time, then sent the info via email as well.
It does look like they're doing things in batches, like they get a stack of apps from Admissions and go through those as they come. That's basically what I was told when I called last Thursday; she told me mine was in her current pile, so they'd look at it during this Monday's committee meeting, and boom---two days later I'm hearing about the interview.
@TXXX: My stats are 96/4.0science/3.2overall. ~3.6 for prereqs depending on what courses they use. It seems like people with a variety of stats have been getting interviews, so I'm not sure what's going on there, but you have great stats so I think you'll get one for sure.
Hey did they tell you how many people they were interviewing and how many were accepted? I asked today during my interview and she told me they were interviewing EVERYONE. I find that hard to believe, and then she told us we should know before May 1st. Hopefully it's soon.
She did tell me that there were 120 slots open for the fall. I was the 9th person interviewed March 25th @ 1 PM. I didn't ask how many they were interviewing. However, I did run into a guy today at Fedex/Kinkos in burnt orange scrubs who is in his 1st semester @ UTMB SON and he said that if you got the interview, you most likely got in. He said there were only 88 slots open for his class, and there are always more open in the fall than spring. He said that all the 6 people that were in the "holding tank," as he called the waiting room for his interview ALL GOT ACCEPTED and into the program and are his friends now!!!
He said I got my interview extremely early, so I'm assuming they will keep contacting people all throught April, and should be done by May if you're interview, accepted, or rejected.
I keep hearing great things about UTMB so that might be my #1....

I just received my invitation for interview on April 8th!
