First week of October! I was told before October!!! I think I am going to have to call to fish a bit myself. I am suppose to start another program if this falls through, and it's suppose to start Oct 17. I need to buy materials, books, etc. I sure wish we'd find out something sooner!!! This waiting is really getting to me!

I emailed SON today and they told me that they hope to have acceptance letters out by mid October.

hi chriscast1. I would like to know where you did your CPR certification. And is it certified by the American Heart Association.

And wow about all the different responses to when we will be finding out. I wish they were a little more consistent with giving out information...it's just driving me crazy waiting :anbd: and I understand that this process takes awhile. I just would love an email like the last one they sent out for the supp app saying that they would be sending out final decisions about acceptance on _____.

Also I was just told that alamo colleges will have around a 6 week wait (maybe even longer) on transcripts and so I would love to know either way so I can order my updated one for the uthscsa if I get accepted or just an updated one to reapply with NursingCAS for the Fall 2012 semester.

Will that be the actual paper letter/packet or an e-mail?

I know in previous semesters they sent an e-mail first, then people got their actual acceptance packets later on...

But there's no telling with this application period. Everything seems to be different... and longer. :confused:

@girlwarrior - I'm sure you are not alone in that boat because we are all just waiting and worrying at this point! The only part left to do in this process is to wait until we hear for the next move.
I didn't apply to other schools for the spring but might consider UIW as well as reapplying to UTHSCSA for the fall if I don't get into UTHSCSA for the spring.
I had all my immunizations except for TB, Varicella (titer), and meningitis (optional) but I went ahead and did all three a couple of weeks ago. The reason being that even if I don't get in for spring they'll still be good for fall. Plus I figured I'd get anything out of the way that I could.
I'm just as anxious, excited, and worried as you so no worries for wanting to know what everyone else is thinking! Plus it's reassuring to know you're not alone. :)

I feel so lost at this point regarding schools because I really want to go to UTHSCSA, so all of my eggs are partially in one basket. I'm still trying to figure out if I don't get in, should I try to go to Wayland in the Spring... or reapply for the Fall for UTHSCSA and just find something to do for this upcoming spring. I don't know. Once we find out if we got in or not will bring a whole lot to light for me.

@girlwarrior I've applied to UTHSCSA, TWU, UTMB, and UTHSC Houston. I havent started my immunizations yet but Im thinking I'll be cutting it a little close if I wait any longer...ahhh I just hate getting shots Also, I did my CPR training a few months ago. I'm hoping we hear something soon!

Wow that's a big range of schools! I used to be terrified of shots (had panic attacks/passed out every time).... then I had my son. Being poked and prodded became part of life so I'm used to it now. :lol2:

I think each person is just guessing at this point which is why the different answers to everyone. And this application period, in comparison to previous ones, has taken exponentially longer. People applying for Spring 2011 knew if they got in by September. I don't what's changed during this semester... but the process has been drawn out a lot.

So, for Alamo Colleges after we order them when this semester finishes it's going to be a 6 week wait? :smackingf Wow.

hey girlwarrior...about the transcripts...I am very worried that we will not be able to get updated ones (after this semester is over) to give to the UTHSCSA (if we get accepted) in time before the spring 2012 semester starts and from what I understand, the uthscsa has to have an updated official transcript with all the prereq's before they let you start. So I don't know how they will handle this when it won't be our fault that we can't get it.

Do you think they will work with ppl who run into this problem?

I'm pretty sure they know by now that Alamo Colleges takes a long while to get transcripts out. So, I would hope they'll be understanding from that standpoint.

If all else fails, if it takes a long time for the transcripts to get there we can see if they'll take an "unofficial" transcript signed by admissions until the "official" one comes.

girlwarrior and jp1180, UTHSCSA knows that the Alamo Colleges has a longer than normal processing time for all transcripts. I can't say if they would allow us to submit "unofficial" transcripts to their office as they are using NursingCas, but it is possible. As for the notification dates, I asked specifically as to when we'd find out and was given a date of Oct 10, but was told this was a "target" date and it was not guaranteed. Believe me, I am checking the status of where we all stand weekly as my plan B starts Oct 17 and I don't want to pass up an opportunity to begin a nursing program. I'll be cutting it VERY close.

With the CPR certification, I will send you the info via private messaging. I am not sure that we can provide that type of information on this site, but it was by AHA and it was BLS for medical personnel. If anyone else is interested in the info, please message me and I will be happy to pass it on.

WE are all in the same boat...waiting! I really hope we hear something soon. Perhaps we will receive some sort of update tomorrow, (Monday). They have been sending out updates/new info these past few Mondays.

girlwarrior, an email should go out first, then our "packet". The packet is sent via email. We will also receive a paper copy of our acceptance letter. All this info is based on how they did things for fall 2011 students, of course, it seems as though the whole application process has changed completely, so it may be completely different...hopefully we'll know something soon!
