Hello-
If you have been accepted into the UT Health Science Center School of Nursing Accelerated program and have questions/comments about the whole process-post here! We can all get through these hoops together:yeah:
Hi, and thank you RN houston 09 for all the help that you have given us. i have gotten all the holds on my account off. Now my problem is that i don't know how to pay for the school. i have never gotten financial aid cause i paid out of pocket for HCC. Now i have applied for financial aid for all the 3 schools i got accepted. i have gotten mails from 2 of them informing me that i have been granted financial aid but not UT. when i checked my status at fafsa it says processed for all the schools. i called and when u are finally able to get someone i was told that they had not received my fafsa and i might have to pay for the first installment myself before the fafsa kicks in if i get it(LOL). Now my question is between the time that you applied for financial aid which i did on the last day of march and the time you got it, how long did it take? how much is the first installment and stuff. how is the tuition divided for all semester. thank you.
I registered for my courses last week-and yeah it took a whole 2 minutes to just type in the numbers on the degree plan..it was really simple. I also went and got my ID badge because it says we should get all that stuff taken care of before orientation and I wasn't going to be in Houston again until orientation so I got that taken care of..it was really simple too-it took all of ten minutes and now I feel actually like an official student with a UTHSC badge! Just time to wait until orientation!
I am in the same boat as you, Seven, I cannot register until I finish my last 2 pre-reqs so I think we are both fine. The late date for registration is May 22 and I know my grades will be in by then.
Question-are we supposed to meet with our adviser that they have listed on our degree plan? I did not know if I was supposed to before orientation-I may call the school tomorrow.
So far I have spent quite a bit of money on scrubs, shots, cpr classes, etc. and no financial aid yet! I am scared, too, Prasmaster! But-I calmed myself down and just reminded myself that this is a fast program and the timeline is very condensed-I am sure financial aid will come through for us.
In terms of what to wear to orientation I am going to go a bit more casual than my interview but still nice. Javagabby-I would change before the plane so you can wear pj's when you fly I am so glad you can make it!
I got a checklist in the second packet that we received which had two additional items on there (other than the items such as residency status and drug test, etc.) It said on the second page that they recommend completing the steps of getting the id badge and waiving your student health insurance or not before orientation. They do not say it is required, so you may want to just do it the day of orientation. It says once you have enrolled in courses then you can get the badge-and I do not think I will have my grades in by orientation in order to register.
Yikes-very short amounts of time here
I do not think that scrubs are urgent-I think as long as you get registered, books, etc. you will be fine. Mostly getting the holds off and getting registered I think is the most important part.
Yes-I feel the same way about books. Anytime in my college career so far that I have bought books early I have found that perhaps we did not need some of them or the profs. have changed some. I will wait on those.
I don't know about the student health insurance-it is actually a good deal if you look at the per month price that you would be paying-but I am not sure about coverage. I am imagining that it should be great as it is through the school system but you never know. Right not I just switched so I am hesitant to switch again!
There are so many things that I have to buy still and I am trying to budget myself as I have received no money yet! At this point I keep on getting nervous about it all and then reminding myself that it should work out and that this is how they always do it
