UTHSC SON Accepted into accelerated

If you have been accepted into the UT Health Science Center School of Nursing Accelerated program and have questions/comments about the whole process-post here! We can all get through these hoops together:yeah:

I too am waiting on financial aid and scholarship information. I called on Monday, and was told that letters will go out the end of this week or next week. I honestly have never seen a school that cut financial aid this close, but I guess there is nothing I can do about it. It has made me very stressed, too, just like all of you. I talked with a woman in the generic program yesterday, she's starting semester three, and she said there is a very nice and caring professor, and I believe we have her for pathophysiology. Has anyone gotten their books and started reading?

I still haven't registered yet cuz still working on CPR certification and one last prereq Sociology at Montgomery Lonestar. I take the final tomm then will be done and send updated trans to UT :/

Are we supposed to have books already and reading ahead? U guys are freaking me out lol!

Hi everyone! I too was accepted into the accelerated and I talked to both the financial aid office and Rhonda and they both said that information would be sent out mid May. Not much time huh? I hope I get something because I am stressing bad! I haven't applied for loans yet because I am waiting to see if I get any money. I think I may just apply and then repay the money depending on how much I get.

Orientation is only a week away! Do any of you know what you're wearing? Also, I can't register for classes because I am finishing up a class this semester so we can't register until they receive those grades : ( What is the schedule looking like as far as days we will be on campus? I'm so full of questions! Thanks in advance :redbeathe

I certainly haven't gotten books or started reading. I'm planning on relaxing til this starts because I know once it starts , it's going to be pretty insane! I agree that the school is really pushing it by waiting til so late to let us know about scholarship info. And I'm also wondering what you are all wearing to orientation??

I'm thinking of kind of dressing up, but not like for an interview. I was thinking some black pants and a niceish shirt and some flats (it's going to be a long day!) I want to wear jeans, but since we're meeting professors/advisors I want to give a good impression. I wish they would have told us!

Ya I was going to do the same, some black pants, a top and some comfy shoes. I wish they had given us a little outline of the orientation so we knew what to expect. I'm anxious to start and get all my last minute things together. What are you doing right now , are you in school or working or just taking it easy before this starts?

I'm at work right now;) I am working until the 21st and I can't wait til I'm done. I am thinking about working part time (very few hours) at this job that I can study at. I know it will be tough but I am nervous about money, especially not knowing if I got any scholarship or financial aid. What are you doing?

I'm working at a law firm , my last day is next tuesday. Your not giving yourself much time to relax! I tried to save as much money as I could to help me out when I'm without a job in school. I'm looking forward to not working though.

Me too! I work at Chevron and I'm excited to just focus on school. I know i'm not going to have too much time to relax, but it's better than nothing : ) Have you registered yet? I can't because i'm finishing up a prereq and grades haven't been posted yet since finals aren't until next week. So i still have no idea what to expect!

yes I registered. tuition ended up being a little over 4000 if i remember correctly for the summer classes..Where did you get your undergrad from? What made you decide to do nursing?

I'm working until next tues then quitting to give myself time to prep for start of classes and to finish up myu CPR and any other last min things. I think we should all meet up on a weekend b4 class starts to meet everyone and get acquainted maybe over some drinks somewhere?
