UTHSC SON Accepted into accelerated

Published

Hello-

If you have been accepted into the UT Health Science Center School of Nursing Accelerated program and have questions/comments about the whole process-post here! We can all get through these hoops together:yeah:

I registered today for classes and when i was done i wanted to check on the price and and i have never been as shocked in my live like i was today. 11k for one semester my goodness so i checked and found out that i am not a resident. i personally went to the school and dropped off every single form and document that they wanted. why was i put in as a non resident? i called the school and talked to someone in the registers office. I informed the guy that i sent in my core residency form that is why that hold was removed from my account he left and said he could not find it. i have faxed him a new one. so for you guys out there please check you UT link very very well to find out everything.

Oh gosh! What a shock-I am sure they will work it out for you but that is quite annoying-it is already expensive as it is-I cannot imagine paying 11k a semester!

I chose to pay non-resident tuition for my pre-reqs at HCC for a year and I was SO happy when I got switched!

Finally got my status changed from non-resident to resident and the fees plummeted from 11k to 3k whew that what a relief. so i guess the only thing that is left now is for me to get the scholarship, financial aid, or student loan and i am good to go. thanks

whats the deal with the orange name plates? when/how do we order those?

Hi everyone and congrats on your acceptance to the BACC2 program!

I am currently in the traditional program but I have many friends in the accelerated program that are graduating in May. If you guys have any questions, just feel free to ask/ PM and I will reply as soon as possible.

whats the deal with the orange name plates? when/how do we order those?

You need the orange name plates when you go into your different clinical rotations. They are attached to your scrubs and they help hospital staff members identify you as a student. You order/ purchase them in the UT bookstore and you receive them about a week or two later. I believe they cost like $8 or so but I will have to check the price and get back to you.

Thanks so much for the help and congratulations to you as well! That is so nice of you-and another reason why I am so excited to start in May, current students like you!

awesome thanks!

Has anyone received scholarship or financial aid info yet? I feel like we have such a small amount of time left and i am getting nervous! I was told that I should hear something soon, I am just wondering if others have received any news. I put the purchase of several items such as steth., shoes, on hold until I get some sort of news on the situation!

don't feel bad, I think we're all in the same boat. I applied for a scholarship as well and haven't heard anything back. I haven't got anything in terms of scrubs or anything and I am going to wait til the week right before school starts to do so just to make sure I get the right stuff...let me know when you get your scholarship info, i'll do the same so we know when to expect it..

Thanks for the news! I expect we will hear something this week for sure. We start so soon and I am getting all flustered about being prepared but I am sure it will all work out! I'll let you know as soon as I hear something....

Heya guys been a while....I am too waiting on my financial aid and scholarship stuff. I sent in my scholarship via email on april 17th to the contact person, and then followed up and she never received it! She told me to mail it again to her, and I did and she said they had just had the meeting on the 30th to decide who was eligable for scholarships, but she said she would still process mine, but haven't heard back from her....I'm worried because I originally sent it out on time, and now I may not be considered ....arghhh. Anyhow, I was told that financial aid should come in mail as to how much we are receiving, and that it all should be ready to go a week before classes, so cross your fingers!!!

Aghhhh Se7ven! That is nerve-wracking! I hope they got it and will process it. One week before classes sounds like cutting it so close but I guess I will just need to have faith that it will all work out. I need to get two more shots on Friday, so more money to spend. At least I am done with the TDap for 10 more years, though. That one hurt for days! I would contact them again of I were you-call Rhoda Richards and just check in (?).

One week until orientation! Se7ven and prasmasters and August, are you on facebook? I want to say hi to you there but have no idea who to look for :)
