UTHSC Nursing Spring 2016

Published

Hey guys, just wanted to begin a thread for all UT Health SON hopefuls who are applying for Spring 2016. I look forward to getting to know all of you as we begin to play what seems to be the longest waiting game ever! I am more than confident that each and every one of us will be receiving our acceptance letters around this same time next year:) Feel free to share anything regarding the application process and/or ask any questions that you may have!

Hi, guys!

I am joining this thread really late, as I JUST NOW stumbled across it.

I checked my to-do list this morning and noticed that my application status is incomplete. It says my TSI satisfaction and Official transcripts have been initiated, but does not say they are complete. I sent my transcripts Tuesday, & do not know why they are showing up incomplete. There is nothing I can do now except wait to call Monday, but I was wondering if anyone else was having this problem?

Just to share my stats:

Overall GPA: 3.52

Science GPA: 3.5

HESI Scores:

Critical Thinking: 880

Reading Comprehension: 90

Grammar: 90

Vocab & General Knowledge: 84

A&P: 92

Math: 96

Overall: 91

I am trying to remain hopeful, but I know my GPA's are not quite as good as they could be. Praying for the best!

I'm a little late to the game too, but I applied for Spring 2016 and my gut just keeps turning reading through this thread. My stats are average, I'm just worried about transcript evaluations!!!! It seems like a lot of y'all have received them but I haven't yet, and I applied back in June! I am taking the last of my pre-reqs this fall, but you'd think I would get some kind of evaluation. Plus, my status still says incomplete. I've contacted them regarding the transcripts still saying incomplete but I would have thought that my application would say complete.

Anyways, maybe I'm just freaking out because there's nothing I can do at this point except wait until November!

Good luck everyone!!!!!!

Hi everyone! I've also applied for the spring 2016 semester, I'm actually a transfer from Sam Houston's nursing program and I completed 1 semester of nursing school there this past spring semester. Unlike UTHSC, Sam Houston's admittance is strictly GPA and TEAS scores, the top 40 are accepted. It is quite odd that UTHSC doesn't have a routine scale/policy for admission. Even as a transfer nursing student I'm on edge like everyone else! I hope we all get in and can start our nursing careers! ;) It looks like everyone has really high GPA's and HESI scores!!

Hi and welcome!

May I ask why you are transferring out of SHSU's program ? I have a friend who wants to go there, and your post made me curious ? Was there anything about their program that didn't fit your needs?

Welcome! ☺️

From what I've seen in the past, people show incomplete because they are still taking classes? But then others have shown complete... It's weird, I wouldn't worry about it though, as long as you turned all of your stuff in and have proof of receipts and stuff. Just give them a call on Monday like you said to ease your mind :) Good luck!

Honestly, the program is so new it is very disorganized at times. The professors also Were not always on the same accord or fair & personally I had some life changes and decided to move. It's a good program with lots of potential, it just has to get the kinks out first.

Hey guys, I'm also applying for the Spring 2016 program. Does anyone know how much the Critical Thinking weighs into the application process. I got an 87 overall in the HESI but got a 720 on the critical thinking.

Hi Mynameischris! On the website it says a recommended score of 750, but it doesn't say required... I would call/email and check with them. Good luck!!

Hey everyone! Just wanted to alleviate as much stress as possible. Just spoke with a BSN counselor, if you're status is "incomplete" and you still have a transcript that you know you sent in on your to-do list, it is because you are still enrolled to take classes. She said it is normal and it will remain that way until you have completed all of you're remaining courses. An incomplete status will not affect admission, it just lets them know that you are still pending classes. Hope this helps! As for admission I think the earliest we can expect to hear something would be early/mid October based on previous threads. Good luck everyone!

So, I am thinking ahead & checking out places to live... Does anyone else have any idea where they are looking at living? Because I am going to need a roommate to make rent more affordable & think it would be cool to live with someone going through the program as well.

Hey guys! I got my transcript evaluation today😆 I'm a dork 'cause I'm all excited, and it's JUST the transcript eval, but I'm glad to have received one finally!

I have a question. I've repeated only one class, Engl 1301, and they put my repeated class under my English pre requisites, and my first class under electives.... 😣 is this correct? I don't want that to count as an elective because my grade wasn't too good!😧 Should I call them? E-mail? Anyone had anything similar happen and got it resolved? Any help would be much appreciated☺️

I had a somewhat similar situation. On that evaluation there is an email listed. Email them and ask that one of your other classes be counted as the elective. They will fix it. Mine was having a class in the "classes not counted" area that would work as an elective but weren't counted as one. She went in and fixed it no problem. Not sure if you would be able to get someone on the phone ;)
