UTHSC Houston - Summer 2016 Applicants
Congrats everyone. Get ready for your life to change. It's so much fun but it's a lot of work. Bryan V. Is in my clinical group, YAY. I'm also excited but very nervous as well :) I'll second what he said about getting all of your immunizations done asap! It seemed to be the biggest hiccup for those that had problems. If I'm not mistaken financial aid doesn't award until all holds are cleared and you register. You guys will know how lucky you are as soon as you see all of the support you will be getting from everyone around you. It's amazing!

When I try to create a group it asks me to add friends from my own fb. I guess if one of you want to be my fb friends I can start the group would that mean that everyone would have to be added separately?

Ok, see if it worked. UTHSC-Houston SON Class of 2017. I think a student set it up during previous years but I'm not sure. We can always delete it later.

I haven't really been stressing that much either. I do hate the wait and wish that they allowed for more time to get things done, especially financial aid. I am in class now, had a fafsa hiccup, and still have not been awarded for this semester. I was able to find a few local scholarships but without acceptance you cannot apply and most are approaching or have passed their application deadlines. There are always loans, which is fine, but not the route I wanted to take. Did you guys fill out the survey? It was kinda weird for me. I have not been in the military but I do have some military medical training through work (civilian contracted). I think it's a good thing that they are looking into veterans.

I am a single mom of 10, 8, and 7 year old daughter's. I have been in school full-time for the past year. It has been hard but my study skills have changed so much as an adult. I think it may even be a little easier because I do not have friends wanting to go out, no extracurricular activities, only 3 daughters depending on me to get this done. I think that is great motivation. We are also use to late nights and early mornings :) I think that there will be many parents and single moms in class. It will not take you long to hook up with a few of them and that will be your support system for the next year and a half. Good luck to you. You will do great!

But I have gotten 4 transcript evaluations so I hope that means I'm in the running. Did anyone else NOT receive the email?

Michelle, I am in the exact same position as you and very similar stats. 3.9 GPA/96 HESI that I've worked my booty off (with 3 kids) to maintain. I saw someone posted that a previous class found out around October 14. That is Wednesday my friends!!! Fingers crossed and good luck to everyone.

Does anyone know the timeline to complete everything if you do get accepted? I was planning to take a trip back home for a couple weeks around Thanksgiving. If we do not find out until mid November I do not want to be out of town and not be able to get it all done. I have already had the immunizations from working in the medical field so that wouldn't be a factor. Also, how does financial aid work? Would I need to be prepared to pay for the first semester? I'm so excited to see that they are taking 120. I thought it was closer to 90.
