UTHSC Nursing Spring 2016

Published

Hey guys, just wanted to begin a thread for all UT Health SON hopefuls who are applying for Spring 2016. I look forward to getting to know all of you as we begin to play what seems to be the longest waiting game ever! I am more than confident that each and every one of us will be receiving our acceptance letters around this same time next year:) Feel free to share anything regarding the application process and/or ask any questions that you may have!

Aww that's such a great response. Thank you I really needed that. Here's to all of us getting in. í ½í¹í ¼í¿»í ½í¹í ¼í¿»

Hi Kmiguez, welcome!! Honestly there is no rhyme or rhythm as to who gets accepted and denied. There are people who will or will not get in with lower scores/gpa and there are people who seem to have perfect scores/gpa's that will get denied or accepted. Seriously, I've spent countless hours reading through old threads and trying to compare my stats to see where I stand with people who have been accepted/denied and its just not worth it. I think that at this point all we can do is have faith, we've all worked extremely hard to get to this point and no matter what happens we just have to remain positive and know that it will all eventually work out in our favor. Good luck!:)

Thanks so much for this! Its easy to compare and check these threads all day long! I'm a firm believer in what's meant to be will be! Good luck to all of us, wherever we may apply, that we will all be going somewhere in Jannuary!

@valxoxo7 - I have human sexuality as one of my electives... For the other I'm considering to test out for credit and sit for a CLEP test in Spanish. They said they accept those, so you shouldn't have a problem with your speech class. Maybe consider another PSYC/BIOL class? I think additional math classes are also considered as electives.

@winemo, thanks! I tested out of college Algebra, I wonder if that will count? I'm going to call them in a minute and see...

@jmarg4, I agree with these ladies, that WAS a wonderful response, and you are so right, I am in the same boat and have spent hours reading these threads trying to see if I have a chance or where I stand, my boyfriend thinks i'm crazy!! lol... it is so nerve wrecking, but all we can do now is have faith and know that we deserve to be nurses and that we will all make it, one way or another, whether it is at UTHSC or another school of our choice... We have all worked so hard to get here! There is no turning back now!

Hello everyone, I've been keeping up with the thread since last year and I just figured it was time to introduce myself! I am applying as well to UTHSC and PVAMU, I am 17 and I graduated early from high school and I am thinking the schools will think that I am not ready for the nursing program but I have worked so hard on all these courses. I took 19 hours this summer. I cried today cause I finally got my Associates degree today. I hope we all make it, the waiting game seems so nerve racking so I am going to try to stay off the forum because I may lose my mind reading all the past years. Nice to meet you all, and I am hoping for the best.

Hi and welcome!

I think it's pretty fantastic that you have come such a long way at such a young age, congrats on your Associates and on being so far ahead in the game! That's a wonderful accomplishment!

That is AWESOME! I am sure that you are SO SO proud. Congrats and good luck!

When do they start sending out letters?

It says they don't start notifying until November 15!!! So we have a long time to wait.

I think I saw in past threads people start getting notified towards the end of October, so maybe we will get lucky and know before mid-November too!

Hello! I'm late to the thread... My name is Alyssa. I am also applying to spring 2016 at UTH. I also got my acceptance letter from UTMB last week which is my second choice. I wanted to know what y'all thought about the two schools (other than the long commute to Galveston) and their differences. UTH is my first choice and would love to not have to drive or move down that way. I did accept the UTMB program, but am still waiting to hear from UTH.

Hi everyone! I've also applied for the spring 2016 semester, I'm actually a transfer from Sam Houston's nursing program and I completed 1 semester of nursing school there this past spring semester. Unlike UTHSC, Sam Houston's admittance is strictly GPA and TEAS scores, the top 40 are accepted. It is quite odd that UTHSC doesn't have a routine scale/policy for admission. Even as a transfer nursing student I'm on edge like everyone else! I hope we all get in and can start our nursing careers! ;) It looks like everyone has really high GPA's and HESI scores!!
