UTHSC (Houston) Spring

Published

This thread is dedicated to the applicants of UT Houston's Spring 2012 application period. I've seen various threads posted throughout the discussion forum regarding the upcoming application period, but they are scattered and hard to keep track of. Maybe if we keep our discussion in one place it will be easier for us all to follow :)

I'm applying with the following stats:

Pre-req GPA: 3.21

Science GPA: 3.66

Overall GPA: 2.81

I know my chances of getting in aren't great with my overall GPA, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyway! Please post your stats, your thoughts, your experiences, ideas and opinions here:)

Good luck to everyone!!

i paid on utlink. my friend decided to pply and went to give her form and fee, nd they said it ws too late to turn in pplication items, they sid the hey still took it few days after the deadline, but they were not taking nything now.

I paid the application fee online, but after the first, but this shouldn't be a problem. According the UT website:

Application fee: $30.00 (non-refundable). Pay online after you are in the system (allow 2 business days after you submit your application for processing). Applicants may choose to pay via check or money order payable in U.S. dollars drawn on a U.S. bank in the U.S. to: Office of the Registrar, UTHSC-H, P.O. Box 20036

Houston, Texas 77225

Note: The application fee is not due by the deadline for your program.

The website put in bold the fee is not due by the deadline. I'm just sayin. :) Hypothetically, if you waited to turn in your application and send your transcripts until the first, you would not have UT Link log-in info, and therefore would not be able to pay the application fee. Again, just sayin.

Rocket, do you know if anyone bikes to the school and, if so, is there a place to lock the bikes to?

Encephalon: yes, people do bike to school and there are racks available. I know for sure there's a rack at the front of the school (Bertner side), and there's possibly one at the back (courtyard side) but I'm not sure. There are also racks next door at the School of Public Health.

Did UTHSC extend the deadline until November 1st?

I think that's only for the RN-BSN program- you're already an RN but don't have the BSN degree.

Thank you. I looked it up too. Someone mentioned it on another thread......I was panicking!. I'm better now :)

Has anyone tried to call UT to ask when they're gonna mail out letters?

Your UTLink will tell you your admission status way before you get anything in the mail. The day after your holds change, your Admission status will say "You have been granted provisional/full admission" and "Admission letter in the mail" BUT it doesn't mean it was actually mailed *that* day. It just means "Hey, you're in, we'll get that letter to you sometime before classes start."

For our class, we got our letters a month or more after our UTLink changed. My UTLink changed in early March; my letter was dated March 28.

The letter will tell you your academic adviser, what classes you still need to complete (the ones you're taking now basically), and your Orientation date.

I read the Spring 2011 forum, chunky, and most of the people got their status updates on UTLink the first week of November...

Yea, but the Spring 2011 included an interview. We don't have interviews scheduled which might account for a shorter wait before we get our admission status.

Yes, I think they come a month earlier. According to this site, they got their admission status a month and a half after the deadline for fall applicants.

I'm going to the orientation as well next week, does anyone know about how long the orientation is?
