Hello everyone! This thread is for everyone applying to the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. I believe they will be accepting applications from January 15-April 1, so the sooner the better! Their admission requirements are pretty standard:
Minimum Pre-Req Gpa: 2.75
Minimum Science Gpa: 3.0
Minimum HESI A2 score: 75% or higher on all required sections - math, reading comprehension, vocabulary/general knowledge, grammar, anatomy and physiology, critical thinking.
My info is really not that competitive, but I'm going to give it a shot anyways -
Pre-Req Gpa: 3.30
Science Gpa: 3.0 (Barely cutting it! )
Overall Gpa: 3.28
Hesi score: 93.3% overall, with my lowest score being a 90.
My gpa is not the best, but I still have 3 more classes to finish this semester, and I'm aiming for all A's! I think the best thing I have going for me is my HESI scores.
Anyone else planning on applying? What are your stats? Any questions? Lets hear them, and good luck to all who are applying!
Well today is officially day 1 of our wait. I am not looking forward to this wait But on a more cheerful note Spring classes start tomorrow so I will not have much time to sit around and "twiddle my thumbs" and drive myself insane in the process. I wish each and everyone of us luck. Unfortunately we will not all get in
I wished we could.... but everything happens for a reason. I like being optimistic, but I am also a realist too. I look forward to the next 3 months waiting with each of you to see who gets the "holds" change. We will be each others sanity and support system.
That's what I am hoping. I applied for the accelerated as well as Fall but the Fall appeals to me a bit more. I like how the Pacesetters program is set up.
I too liked how the Pacesetter's program was set up! I am excited about clinicals but having them all together I think would be really nice. That way you could focus on your school work then focus on your clinical work! Either way I just want to go!
Does anyone know how to change your password in myUTH? After we sent our applications in they gave us this really long password and I hate having to copy & paste each time.
Also, I went and read for HOURS the forum UTHSC SON (can't remember the rest). But it was bascially everyone who applied for the Spring 2012 semester with UT. Very awesome tip is that their deadline was SEPT 1st, they knew by Nov 1-15 if they were accepted of denied. Some people got emails, some checked their "HOLDS" list on myUTH which if you get accepted will change! It will tell say "immunizations, CPR, etc" everything you need to do when accepted and before classes start. So that is pretty neat. I enjoyed reading that day after day more and more people saw their holds change and updated the forum. Those who didn't get accepted also update the forum and I think that helped because it showed me that no one can say for sure what UT is looking for. Grades were so different among those who go in, so were ages, and other factors. A few with literally perfect scores didn't get in but I LOVED seeing that one of them said "Maybe I'm not meant to be a nurse maybe I am meant to be a doctor" that is a great attitude!
Try to keep busy, stay optimistic, and remember if you don't get in your first try there is always the following semester and that is my big plan! GOOD LUCK EVERYONE :)

Did you ever receive a transcript evaluation from UTMB? I applied there too but they have never sent anything acknowledging my transcripts and what transferred over plus gpa. It still doesn't even show they received my TEAS score and it has been a month.
Jaybird,
I also applied to UTMB and I did not receive a transcript evaluation or GPA but they did update MyStar when they received my stuff. If I was you I would call to verify that they had everything and ask them if they would give you a transcript evaluation. Over the summer I made an appointment with one of the academic counselors and we did an unofficial evaluation while I was there. You might try that! Good luck!
