Hello everyone, I wanted to create a forum for the UTHSC BSN Spring 2017 applicants. I plan to apply to this program, TWU, UTA, Lamar, and SHSU after I finish my pre-reqs this summer. Also, I still have to take the Hesi and Teas test this summer as well. I have attended three colleges throughout my college career and do not have the best GPA at either one of them. The school I am currently attending my stats are as follows:
Overall GPA: 2.5
Pre-Req GPA: 3.5
Science GPA: 4.0
Those of you who have not taken the HESI yet, does it show as pending on your TO DO LIST?
Mine was on there along with the transcripts, but now everything has disappeared. I assume the received my college transcripts, but last time I took the HESI was in 2012. It should still show as pending on my TO DO LIST, right?
I am also applying for the Spring 2017 term.
My stats are:
Cumulative GPA: 3.5 ish ( I have been to 2 different schools: got a 3.014 the first time around in 88-91--and I have a 4.0 this time around. Have approximately the same amount of hours at each one. )
PreReq GPA: 3.88 ( still have to take Statistics(summer) and Philosophy (taking intro to Ethics in Fall)
Science GPA: 4.0 (all complete, but may have to retake chemistry due to it being so old, and Im not sure if it is the right course)
Hesi: 94.8 total
Reading: 86
A&P: 92
Math: 96
Vocal: 100
Grammar: 100
Critical Thinking: 910
I submitted my application Sunday. Now the LONG wait starts......
I am also applying to HCC ADN program since it also accepts the HESI.
I am thinking of taking the TEAS V so I can apply to Wharton Jr College ADN and TWU.
My first choice is UTH since it is a 15 month program. I also like the Pacesetter format where we would a full load of clinical in our last semester. I think that will prepare us for working full time as nurses.
Good Luck to everyone! And lets take this time to cheer each other on and get to know one another !
Thanks guys! I used the same resources that most people use-
-Hesi Admission Assessment Exam Review by Elsevier (4th ed.)
-McGraw-Hill's 3 Evolve Reach (HESI) A2 Practice Tests
-Pocket Prep HESI app.
I wouldn't really recommend that second book. The questions weren't like the actual exam, but it did help to take full-length practice exams. The app was hands down the most helpful for me! I just used it everyday for A&P since I haven't take A&P II yet. I also watched Anatomygmc on youtube for the body systems that weren't covered in A&P II. I focused on A&P and grammar when I studied. For the other sections, I just did the practice questions in the Elsevier book.
My overall GPA is somewhere between 3.2 and 3.3 (I took majority of my basics while still in high school, and didn't concern myself with my GPA... big mistake! ) My prerequisite GPA is 3.5 and science GPA is 4.0.
For those who have submitted an application already: How long after sending your transcripts and HESI scores do they fall off of your To-Do List on MyUTH?
I sent my transcripts near the end of last month, and I took my Hesi on June 24.
Mine still say "initiated"
I am just anxious to make sure everything goes smoothly.
Hello everyone, I've just finished taking A&P I and ended up with a B. I will be starting A&P II this Thursday and will try my hardest to receive an A. It's so good to see all of your awesome gpa's and Hesi scores. Sadly, I may have ruined my chances of getting into UT because it took me three times to pass one section on the Hesi. I wish you all the best of luck on getting in and through the nursing program.

I was going to suggest the same thing FutureRNMelanie did. It'll be cheaper that way too. I paid over $100 for UT's testing fee and then found out that a local community college charges $35 for the same test.
Just be sure to take all of the required sections
