UTH Cizik School of Nursing BSN Pacesetter- Fall 2019

Published

Hey everyone?!

Just wanted to start a forum to see if there are any other nursing student applicants for the Fall semester? I just applied, although, I know I will not get a response until beginning of April. I was so excited since I just finished my HESI. I had to retake it since I did not take Vocab. the first time I took it? . Anyways, I really pray I get in for August so I can get started and not need to take any additional classes for other schools. My friend got in for Spring 2019 and she is loving it. I have really been fighting to get here for a VERY LONG TIME

I really can't wait. Good luck to everyone! ?

I was accepted to UTMB for Spring 2020.

Congratulations! That is a great school.

Hi everyone! I am so sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, but this is my first post (well, other than the other thread I posted asking the same thing before I found this one :-)) and I’m trying to figure out the flow of the site

My questions are this:

1. Did anyone apply and get a conditional acceptance (if they’ve even seen them out?) with fewer than 60 of the required prerequisites, particularly if part of those that weren’t completed being science courses? I’m hoping to apply after the fall semester for Summer 2020, but at that time I’ll only have around 44 credits completed, 8 of which will be science (taking A&P 1 & Chemistry).

2. Silly question, but if you start let’s say, this summer (2019), when will you complete the program? End of summer 2020? Is it only consecutive 4 semesters, which includes summers (ie, summer, fall, spring, summer, done :-))?

3. Did anyone take the HESI without having completed A&P (II)? When I (hopefully) take the HESI, I’ll only have completed A&P I, taking A&P II after the application is submitted.

Thank you all so much!

Hi so I'm a J1 and i just started this summer. As a summer starter with 4 semesters of nursing school we will graduate in summer 2020 so by the end of August of next year! Yes all the semesters are one after the other. No matter if you start in summer, spring, or fall, you will have school semester after semester including summer. Although you CAN talk to an academic adviser to revise your degree plan with you if for whatever reason you can't be a full student and have to take less classes per semester (but again, you will graduate in more than 4 semesters).

As for the other questions well personally I would wait until I've had Some AP2 rather than take Hesi before even taking that class. Although if you're doing great in AP1 and you think you can self teach yourself AP2 and learn the material well enough I say go for it. But also, I would definitely wait until you've passed AP2 to apply because that is one of the most important prereqs for nursing school and that's what they're going to pay the most attention to.

Also, there have been students admitted and they haven't finished all their prereqs.

Hey guyz! I just wanted to say congratulations on those who have made it in. I’m a current J1 and am moving from my current apartment in the med center. If anyone is looking for housing this fall and is interested, let me know. It has a shuttle to and from the med center at $460 a month.

@RnDestinyy hey I’m interested in the apartment, can you email me. My email: [email protected]

A spot will be open soon, someone just got his admission deferred...

Good luck everyone, can't wait to start sch in August.

Hi everyone, I graduated from TAMU with a degree in Biomedical Science. I was wondering if there is anyone on this forum who was a BIMS major and also applied to this program?

I'm trying to figure out if they will accept the BIMS anatomy and physiology, as it is a little different from the traditional one. I have tried to call and ask but no one returns my voicemails!

At the info session I went to they specifically called out the A&P and lifespan courses offered at A&M and said they were not transferable, that A&M students should take the courses offered at Blinn instead. It has to be human AP and lifespan that covered embryo to death. I hope that helps!

Has anyone been in contact with the admissions counselors? I have emailed the [email protected] address a couple of times and no one has gotten back to me. I have spoken to someone on the phone from a different department, but she said she has nothing to do with that email and that they are in a different office. She didn't give me another email address to contact either and said I would just have to wait. I am trying to speak with someone about my A&P prerequisites. Thanks in advance!

I would email Joann Mendoza or Christina Carrozza. Their contact information is on the SON directory page. They may be hard to get responses from too just fyi. I know tbey are pretty busy with getting things squared away for the upcoming fall semester. Maybe look into attending an info session as wll. Also I would look at the transfer guides they provide on their site and register for AP classes somewhere just incase, because from what I mentioned before about what they said in the info session, it sounds like you may need different courses ? good luck!

Thanks! Yeah it's really frustrating because the A&P courses that I took are literally counted for pre reqs for med school, PA school, pharmacy school, dental school and others. They are also accepted by TWU and UTMB for nursing school, so I kind of want to go in and talk to an advisor and try to fight this. Which I know is a long shot, but it's worth a try ?
