  1. I'm in their StaRN program! Their pay is $28.50/H (or so). Also just found out last week that not a lot of people get sign up bonuses. They have multiple start dates. I'm part of their FB group and it seems there's a start every week LOL. Yes there's a two year contract. Apparently you can "switch" your position if you talk to your hiring manager whenever there's an open position at the unit you would like. Like if you get hired for Medsurg (you signed the contract and you've started the program), you can talk to your manager to see of you can be transferred to whatever unit you want. Obviously that doesn't guarantee you will get transferred but maybe. Also I talked to someone last year who was hired for a unit and then she got asked if she'd like to go to another unit and continue her residency there (she went from a med surg type of unit to a cvicu unit). I will say that, they're a little um "shady" when you get a call from a hiring manager about interviewing for X unit. What I mean is that someone I knew from the didactic part of the program interviewed for an ICU unit (or IMU can't remember) and then afterwards she found out it was a covid unit. IDK if she didn't ask questions during her interview or if they dodged that question but that happened. Also someone else was hired for another ICU unit in another location and during week 4 of our program which is when we go to our facilities for a few days, she got told she may/can/will float to a covid unit and she wasn't very onboard with that when she told us. I was also sort of blindsided when I got a call from a recruiter asking if I'd like an interview between 3 different units and the unit I chose as a first choice would be something but it was something else which I found out during my interview but by then I couldn't ask for another interview from the recruiter. After my initial disappointment from partially my misunderstanding, I do enjoy and like my unit now (I'm on the preceptorship part of the program). So be very direct with your questions during your interview so you don't get blindsided once you're already legally hired!

  3. I did! It was my first choice! Interview was this past Monday.
  4. Whenever they ask me questions about "Tell me about the time you made a mistake/had a difficult patient/had to ask for help" related to nursing, I always ask them if it is OK to talk about my simulations since I didn't have much clinical experience and explain why I didn't have that experience. (We have one clinical rotation per semester but on our fourth aka last semester that is just a full clinicals semester and because of COVID I didn't have that last semester of clinicals) I got into application/interview for both HCA and Memorial Herman and I got a job offer for HCA. I had a 3.1 GPA. I remember they asked me for my GPA for MH for their initial written application and during my interview with HCA for their medical center location. I have no previous healthcare related work experience or volunteer experience. I did join nursing associations. Since I am interested in Neuro ICU I joined critical care association and the neuroscience association. I also joined ENA because it was free and I also joined NSA when I was in school. Now I'm certified in ALS (along with BLS) and I'm pretty sure I'm now certified in NIH Stroke Scale. I say that you join organizations (if you are financially able to) related to the position you are applying to! And if you can get certified in things related to the position you're applying to (and you've already passed the NCLEX since I think you have to be licensed in order to be certified but don't quote me on this) to do it if you can.
  5. I didn't interview for NICU btw! I interviewed for MH Memorial City Neuro ICU. I think the person you quoted just wanted to know if everyone is getting to know if they get a job offer or not in the same time frame regardless of location/unit. Orrr maybe their friend also interviewed for the same location. Orrr maybe they misread and thought I said NICU instead of ICU?
  6. This unit had more interviews today and tomorrow only. She said I could expect to hear back by the end of this week.
  7. Hmmm. Well I got the "Why ICU?" question but other than that not really. I got behavioral such as "Tell me about the time you made a mistake/helped a coworker." I got to ask questions for the last 10ish mins. I didn't get any knowledge questions.
  8. Just had my interview for Memorial Hermann Memorial City Neuro ICU! General interview questions asked. This was my second time interviewing with this unit (I had already interviewed back in October for the Spring residency.) It was a video interview for the first 5mins but internet was weird so it turned into a phone interview.
  9. I heard back from Memorial Hermann Memorial City Neuro ICU yesterday!
  10. Did anyone accept a position at HCA Med center? Anyone else start on March 1?
  11. I'm not sure how it was with you for the location you interviewed for but for when I got notified I got an interview, at the end of the email was the name of the recruiter and their number and email. Also, I'm not sure if you're on FB but theres a "Houston nurses" group where you could ask there if someone has the number of a specific recruiter?
  12. I'm sorry to hear that! What location/unit did you hear from? Did you get an email or how did you get your rejection? My portal still says "interview in process" even though I interviewed on Monday.
  13. I hope so! And it was for Memorial Hermann Memorial City. I got the questions online by looking up "nursing interview questions" or a variation of it.
  14. My interview lasted the whole 30mins and we almost went over time LOL. She was really nice! She asked me when I graduated, if I had taken the NCLEX yet, asked me why Neuro ICU, a time I took accountability for, a time in which I was part of a team. And towards the end of the interview if I wanted day or night shift. She let me ask many questions though and she went over the unit and what they did. I prepared for like 20ish behavioral questions and only the why this unit was the only one I was prepared for to be honest LOL. I even reviewed Neuro content just in case and I didn't get any of that either. My interview felt more like a conversation if that makes sense.
  15. Finished my interview for MH Memorial City Neuro ICU! Now all I feel is nervousness LOL. My interview was not @michcoudurier'michcoudurier's at all I just had one person. Good luck you guys!
