Hey everyone?!
Just wanted to start a forum to see if there are any other nursing student applicants for the Fall semester? I just applied, although, I know I will not get a response until beginning of April. I was so excited since I just finished my HESI. I had to retake it since I did not take Vocab. the first time I took it? . Anyways, I really pray I get in for August so I can get started and not need to take any additional classes for other schools. My friend got in for Spring 2019 and she is loving it. I have really been fighting to get here for a VERY LONG TIME
I really can't wait. Good luck to everyone! ?

I am so glad you are asking this. I too am an older student and have great stats and have wondered if that is what is hurting me! I wish I knew because then I could just stop applying and throwing away my money.

I have been checking faithfully. It is a very frustrating process because like others, I have worked throughout it all, gotten almost all A's, worked my butt off to achieve these goals, and I have worked in the medical field for 6+ years. I just hate that they only see me as grades and paper. So much of a need for nurses and yet so hard to become one.

Legally speaking, they can't discriminate against age. If they are, they would never admit that, but I don't think that's the case as there have been applicants of all ages who have been accepted.
Here is a link to the UTHealth Fact Book. I know it covers statistics that include race/ethnicity, but I'm not sure if it drills down to age. If your curious I'd encourage you to take a look and see if age is mentioned in here for applicants so you can see how many applications in different age ranges are accepted. Again I'm not certain if this even includes age as I did not read that far.

Hey....from MY experience it went like this:
1) first wave: accepted
2) second wave: waitlisted
3) third wave: denied
BUT, I say don't lose hope bc I was accepted in the Spring maybe they do things differently for Fall.

I AM SO HAPPY TO HEAR THAT! Keep the faith you guys! Wait until Tuesday-Friday of next week and see what happens.

But then again, when does their selection process ever make sense ?
I truly hope so! It doesn't seem like many people got in yet!! They may not be done sending out acceptance letters.

I have a BS in public health that I got done in 3 years, finished with a 3.85 GPA, 3 years clinical work experience while being a full time student, a 94 on the HESI and I was waitlisted as well ? Luckily I was accepted to TWU, so I’m not too upset about it. It does really make me upset how they can choose people so randomly though. I never got a transcript evaluation either. ?
