UTH Cizik School of Nursing BSN Pacesetter- Fall 2019

Published

Hey everyone?!

Just wanted to start a forum to see if there are any other nursing student applicants for the Fall semester? I just applied, although, I know I will not get a response until beginning of April. I was so excited since I just finished my HESI. I had to retake it since I did not take Vocab. the first time I took it? . Anyways, I really pray I get in for August so I can get started and not need to take any additional classes for other schools. My friend got in for Spring 2019 and she is loving it. I have really been fighting to get here for a VERY LONG TIME

I really can't wait. Good luck to everyone! ?

Btw those who aren’t going to be working during school of y’all get in what will y’all be doing for insurance? I need to figure that out

Map09 is 1000% right. When you get accepted and you're getting stuff in order they'll ask you if you got insurance and if you say no they will put you on the school's insurance program. (They'll send you instructions how to so this.) Their insurance is from Blue Shield Blue Cross of TX.

I am on my husband's insurance fortunately, but the school will offer you insurance, i remember seeing it on the breakdown of attendance costs I believe!

Thank y’all! That’s so good to know since I had been worried about that!

Hey does anyone know if UTMB requires you to send in high school transcripts? In NursingCAS when i filled that last part out it said that if the school I was applying too required one I would be prompted to send one or something like that but it never came up again so I figured I didn’t need to send one but now idk.

I don’t think so. All I submitted was my college transcript.

Oh ok that’s was what I was hoping but I wasn’t sure and I got impatient and had it sent to NursingCAS and UTMB anyway lol. Hopefully they don’t reject me for not following directions lol.

I do not mind the questions....

I did apply to UTMB as well although my TEAS scores were not as high. I got an overall 80% which I think hurt me. I just applied to Houston Baptist as a Nursing Major and was accepted and offered scholarship money. I will be applying to their nursing school for the Spring term. My problem is that I am an older student and a single mom. I can not quit work for two years so I was really hoping I would get into a fast paced program and worked very hard to get high stats. As for my HESI score my overall was a 92%. My science score was an 88%.

All I can tell you guys is that this is my third application and I have seen people get in with lower scores than mine and people get rejected with higher scores. Don't rack your brain because it won't do any good.

I pray that I get in this time. I have turned in 4 more A's but that doesn't guarantee anything. Good luck to everyone.

Thank you for responding! I also applied to UTMB but didn’t realize their application deadlines were so early so I missed the fall but have applied for the spring. I keep telling myself to just relax but it’s tough. I also have a daughter and I’m not like a spring chicken lol and just feel like I have been going to school for so long and just want to be a nurse already. I am also hoping to get into an accelerated program which is why I am hesitant to apply to twu and other nursing programs. But we will see what happens.

Map09 not to mention the price tag attached to some of the schools like Houston Baptist!

Specializes in Pediatrics, Family medicine.

Anyone here applying to PVAMU, in case? I've seen HBU, TWU, and UTMB.

Yes I have heard that private schools are a lot more expensive. I was actually looking into HBU but didn’t realize the price and am now questioning whether I will even apply. I was also looking into CHamberlain which I haven’t heard many people talk about but I do know two people who went there and they are both great nurses but it is really expensive. However, I heard on a forum that if you have all your prerequisites complete you and finish in 17 months but don’t quote me on that. Also I did look into PVAMU but the length of the entire BSN is 4 and a half years so i figured even with prerequisites it would possibly be more than 2 years or it has extra prerequisites i would have to take.

Chamberlain is super expensive! And the way their BSN program is designed no one can graduate in less than 28 months. It takes at least two years and one semester to graduate. If you repeat the courses ( they allow two fails), it will take even longer. They accept almost anyone, the GPA requirement is very low. It is too stressful though.
