UTH Cizik School of Nursing BSN Pacesetter- Fall 2019

Published

Hey everyone?!

Just wanted to start a forum to see if there are any other nursing student applicants for the Fall semester? I just applied, although, I know I will not get a response until beginning of April. I was so excited since I just finished my HESI. I had to retake it since I did not take Vocab. the first time I took it? . Anyways, I really pray I get in for August so I can get started and not need to take any additional classes for other schools. My friend got in for Spring 2019 and she is loving it. I have really been fighting to get here for a VERY LONG TIME

I really can't wait. Good luck to everyone! ?

So I looked up their program completion grades. In 2016 it was 84% and in 2017 it was 82%. The NCLEX-RN Pass Rates for First Time Writers in 2017 was 95.22%. They also have the employment data:

Thank you for finding this information!

It's crazy that the completion rate isn't higher, but I have a few friends who graduated from different programs who said people ALWAYS dropped out because it's really REALLY difficult to work and go to an accelerated nursing program. They said there were a few other special circumstances but said most left because they couldn't balance work and school. I have been saving up that way I won't have to work when I'm in school because I don't want any additional distractions or stresses. I know obviously not everyone can do that but you have to really consider what you can and can't handle. This isn't community college anymore and i applaud those who can handle both accelerated nursing school and working.

Can't wait to hear back already! Good luck everyone!! ?

Hi, everyone! This is my first post on here. I have a theory that maybe it matters where you complete your pre-reqs. I just graduated from Texas A&M - College Station and know two other girls that were accepted in previous terms. Do y'all know other people who were accepted/denied and where they went to school?

I disagree with your theory. All the people I know that were accepted came from Lonestar and I’ve heard of people from HCC as well as UT Austin that we’re accepted. So the notion that they accept or deny people based on where they got their Pre-reqs is highly improbable

Thanks for the info. I didn't mean for my post to be offensive or upset anyone...just trying to see if there is any logic behind the "lottery" system that everyone talks about. ?

Oh no!!! I did not mean to sound offended or upset lol. I never know how people read my messages since there aren’t any vocal or facial gestures. Sorry if I sounded retaliatory ? I was just conveying what I know

Hi! I'm a J1 student for the summer 2019 cohort. I myself took my pre reqs at Lone star and have friends who took them at HCC and got accepted! I really do believe the main factors are your GPA and HESI scores :) I also have met people who took their pre reqs at A&M and got denied, but then again their scores were not as competitive.

Hi! I start school this summer and I finished my prereqs at HCC by Spring 2018. I was originally denied for Fall 2018 and then waitlisted for Spring 2019 and accepted for Summer without retaking any tests or classes so I would say it looks more like a lottery.

I agree who knows how they choose ??‍♀️ This would be my third time applying. I finished all my pre-reqs at San Jac in 2 years. I’ve been waitlisted for both Spring 2019 and Summer 2019. I really won’t be surprised if I’m waitlisted again or even flat out denied since a lot more people apply for the fall but what I’ve learned from this school is to apply to as many other places as you can ?

I agree it does seem more like a lottery. I have seen people post amazing scores and GPA's and yet get denied or waitlisted. I am so anxious and nervous to know already. I am trying to stay positive but I am so scared to hear a denial. I know not the end of the world but I just want to get it done!

I find it so frustrating to hear of people with low GPAs/scores getting in over people with amazing test scores and 4.0’s... the whole “lottery” thing honestly turns me off from the school. I understand them wanting diversity and it would make sense if they also took into account personal statements or interviews or something, but they don’t. It just feels like they aren’t rewarding those who worked hard lol idk.
