UTA Spring 2020

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone! I figured I'd start a thread for UT Arlington's BSN Spring 2020 applicants!

First off let me start by sharing a few things:

- UTA nursing school acceptance is based off a composite system that consists of your SCIENCE GPA (Anatomy & Phys 1, Anatomy & Phys 2, Microbiology, Chemistry), OVERALL GPA, and Considerations. ?‍?

- also, TEAS scores don't affect your acceptance into the nursing program, unless you don't meet their requirements of course. ? I'm taking mine this Friday so I'll let y'all know how that goes..

also side note: Considerations depend on wether you're applying to the online or on campus. We can only apply to either or..

As of right now, I have 3 considerations:

- military veteran

- 30 hours at UTA

- 3 out of 4 sciences at UTA

I won't know my official science GPA or overall GPA until after this semester ends....

In the March cycle of admissions, a lot of folks missed out on getting in due to not having all of their titers and vaccs done.
No one screwed anyone. The information was on the website https://www.uta.edu/conhi/students/imm-prelic/index.php

There is also a check list applicants should be following https://www.uta.edu/conhi/_doc/unurs/CB-BSN-UD_ApplicantChechecklist.pdf

They always start with titers before going through a series again. It is the applicants job to be on top of what needs to be done.

....I don't have my records but my Mom assured me that I did. It's common for levels to be non-immune on titers if you got the vaccination 20+ years ago.... My PCP advised me to just get a booster and then wait 4-6 weeks to get the titers again. I'm currently waiting on my lab results - did blood work yesterday.

To comply with the requirement, you have to submit documented proof of all of your vaccines and upload them to inplace.

Which Vax are you talking about just getting a booster and doing titer in 4-6 weeks?

I understand the requirements... titers are acceptable for all except flu and tdap. My PCP recommended a booster for all. I attached information on Hep B booster. Read bottom right section.

Hey all,

I figured I’d come back to let future hopefuls know, I was Accepted into AO! I have a 7.422 score (I was able to factor in a last minute class from my original post) AND I am partnered!

However, I can’t stress enough get on top of your immunizations ASAP. They say on their Website that if you’re planning on applying to try and start working on your immunization stuff at least a year before you plan on submitting your application to make sure your shots are in order. http://www.uta.edu/conhi/students/imm-prelic/index.php

A few people who were accepted last week have already had to give up their spots because of their immunizations being incomplete. It really sucks for them, but for those waitlisted, there’s Hope guys! They only gave us a week to submit all of our completed immunizations!

I'm going to have to give up my spot because of immunizations...missing the cut-off by 2 weeks for an equivocal mumps titer not starting the vaccine series early enough.

Good luck to whoever gets the spot, and congrats.

The immunization team just kicked me out of the program although I provided all the valid documentations of all the vaccinations. The entire process is shady and inconsistent how they verify the documents and make decisions.

did they give you a reason?

that sucks...i turned down my seat and acceptance this week. Some private clinics offer accelerated or 'fast -track" HEP A and B immunization which is 60 days and I would ve made it bu the immunizations dept refused...

The hepislav B is a hep B vaccine that has a series of only two vaccinations. Each vaccination is 1 month apart for the hepislav B. Walgreens should have hepislave B. The UTA nurse vaccine video mentions this vaccine. I didnt know their was a fast track hep A. Do you know the name of the vaccine?

What happened?

Man I am really sorry that happened to you. That is really disheartening to hear. You should really reach out to them and try to find out why.
