UTA Spring 2020

Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone! I figured I'd start a thread for UT Arlington's BSN Spring 2020 applicants!

First off let me start by sharing a few things:

- UTA nursing school acceptance is based off a composite system that consists of your SCIENCE GPA (Anatomy & Phys 1, Anatomy & Phys 2, Microbiology, Chemistry), OVERALL GPA, and Considerations. ?‍?

- also, TEAS scores don't affect your acceptance into the nursing program, unless you don't meet their requirements of course. ? I'm taking mine this Friday so I'll let y'all know how that goes..

also side note: Considerations depend on wether you're applying to the online or on campus. We can only apply to either or..

As of right now, I have 3 considerations:

- military veteran

- 30 hours at UTA

- 3 out of 4 sciences at UTA

I won't know my official science GPA or overall GPA until after this semester ends....

I hate to ask but has anyone had a positive antibody Hep B titer prior to waiting 30 days after getting the vaccine? Want to see if it might be worth it getting the titer earlier in the event it can show positive

has anyone created a FB page for the AO Spring Cohort 22? I can't seem to find one if so and would like to be added.

I found this information about titers that explains the waiting period

"Once vaccinated, titers should not be drawn until 6-8 weeks after the vaccination. • Why? If drawn too soon afterwards, the titers will indicate non-immunity as the vaccine will still be in your system."

IgG antibodies take about 2 weeks to peak after exposure. Don't worry about waiting for the titer. Just keep getting them every few weeks until you get a positive result. To avoid paying for a doctor's visit, order them through directoy through requestatest.com.

I can't tell if this is a joke or if it's serious lol. I guess I could just get it 2 days earlier than the 30 day wait period.

I read this article as well. However, since the 2 Step Heb Series is administered 4 weeks apart and the first dose confers 95% immunity, wouldn't it also work to just get the titer 6/7 weeks after the first dose instead of wait 30 days after the second dose (which would be 8 weeks) to get a positive? I think I'll just try getting it earlier and see what happens. I can report back and it may help someone else in the same situation later

So yes, it confers immunity and you don't need to wait 30 days after the second dose to develop it. UTA has a rule that they won't accept it before 30 days after the last dose. Just FYI

Does anyone know when the proof of medical insurance will need to be submitted? I am currently under my parent's insurance and will be dropped next year at the end of May for turning 26. I was planning on waiting til then to sign up with my employer via open enrollment but if I need to send in the proof sooner than that (acceptance letters would be sent out first week of March) then I have to sign up for insurance now while it's regular open enrollment.

Hello, I was accepted for on campus Spring 2020. You have 7 days after receiving your acceptance letter to upload the vaccination documentation. You have a about 2.5 months from the date of your acceptance letter to submit proof of health insurance. I highly recommend starting the Hep A/B series of vaccines as soon as possible, because you have to wait 30 days between each shot. Best of luck to you !

Any of you get accepted to the campus program with 7.5 and above

Specializes in CVICU, ED.

How long did it take y’all to receive the letter or blue card from the Texas Board of Nursing? And how long did y’all have to submit it once you were accepted?
