Alas! Here I go again! This thread is dedicated to all hopefuls to either of the programs- AP or traditional. Let's partake in the sharing of ideas, suggestions, and/or insight in the "intricacies" of this nursing program. Former grads, new or current students are encouraged to chat. Knowledge is power, indeed! Continued blessings and success to all! Good Luck!
A quick suggestion to those in Pharma...DO NOT FOCUS on the book. Focus on her lectures. You have to develop your critical thinking during test. The answers can not be found it just a quick "slide 4". Just like Tejas said: read/digest/retain. Learn your online lectures in/out and "SKIM" through the book. I know is hard through online classes, but find a study group and quiz each other. It helped me a lot when I took the class.
As far as the final goes, well is comprehensive. What I did? Learned the online lectures, I had index card for the chapters and during that week, I took those index card wherever I go. Don't know what else to tell you. It was a tough one, but doable (as long as you understand how drugs work)
I have been reading mainly the book and none of the questions seem to correlate with the book...this time around, for Test 3, I am going to read the modules first...am going to do the same thing you are - print them out, read and highlight...
I have made As in every other course...but this one is killing me and it is my last one - I HAVE TO PASS IT! I am just so overwhelmed...
THANK YOU for your support and encouragement...you are doing awesome!
Yes, I think that if you start doing the modules you will see a big difference cause she bolds and talks about "remember this..." kinda stuff so that's nice! You will do awesome...hang in there and we will get through this!
@EMT2BLS....that's a great idea about the flashcards! Something I'm going to have to look into...I need all the help I can get...lol Thanks for your help!
Some of the private tech schools are very pricey! I am shocked UTA doesn't require out of state tuition for their program, that is one reason I applied. Are you saying UTA is not accredited or Texas A&M Commerce?
Texas A&M, I was saying that I didn't see anything about them on the Texas BON website. So this must be very new.
Do the drug workups to. Like collinergic (sp?) drugs effect you in the following, etc. Like everyone says the tests are scenario based. I also printed the modules so I could review them, but I wished I had taken better notes. The class builds on itself. What you learn the first week will play into the drugs you learn the last couple of weeks. The final was cumulative, some questions from past tests and a lot of new ones. Don't slack. Stay up on your work and review past weeks. I would only look at the book if a topic is not covered on the exam. I remember there were a couple chapters that she did pull questions from and I bombed those questions. I also had someone I studied with (over the phone as I am out of state) for aprox 3 hours 2x a week. That REALLY helped as we could talk about the drugs and get each other clarified on stuff. Good luck. You will do fine!
There is no book. It's all online. It's pretty easy. There are 19 quizzes that come directly from the reading material. There is a final, but it is optional. You can just take the average of the 19 quizzes or replace that grade with a cumulative final. Of course, I took the avg of the quizzes.
I am about to send in my application for Fall 2012. Does anyone know where I can locate the information as far as application fee is concerned. I thought it was $30 for the Nursing application and I have searched the website and can't find it. The new website is different and not as informative or maybe I am just seriously nervous about sending in this application.
I didn't think there was an application fee. Once you are admitted to the school (school fee) and you have your intended major as nursing. Then you get a nursing adviser to view your transcripts to see if you need any additional prereqs. After all that you can apply to the SON and there is no fee for that application if memory serves correct.
Good Luck...I may be applying again for Fall soon. Waiting to hear back on spring selections still. I applied to both Accelerated and Traditional in an attempt to increase my chances.

@BJBAILEY1972....this class does have an insane amount of info to read/digest/retain in a very short time before we have to test over it!!
I personally have been just reading the modules (printed them out and put in a binder so I didn't have to sit at the computer all the time and could go over and highlight what I thought was info to for sure remember)...maybe some others from the class could jump on and add what they are doing to study for the class??!!!
Are you studying modules or book or both? I wish I knew what to expect from the next couple tests, as well as, the final??!! :-/
Hang in there!! I'm still struggling myself to find the balance of reading/retaining the amount of info verses how fast we test...
