UTA BSN & AO BSN - Fall 2019

Published

Hello, all!

I am currently preparing to apply for both the BSN (on campus) and AO BSN programs at UTA, to begin in the Fall of 2019 - I am also applying to TWU's program, as well as two ADN programs.

So far, the only question I have is can I begin taking the Pre-Nursing courses (Intro, Pharm, Patho) after the application deadline? I believe I've read that I can, but I just want to be sure. I am still in the process of completing a few pre-requisite courses and might not get to these in time for the application deadline. Thanks in advance!

Best of luck to everyone!

**UPDATE**

I found the answer to my question, sorry!

Fall '19 applicants (or anyone) feel free to add general comments/questions!

Sorry to break it to you but starting from this semester students cannot apply to both programs anymore. You can only pick one.

Thank you for the update! Did Advising tell you that? I don't mind since I would prefer the On-campus program anyway, but I can't find that information listed on their website?

Hi everyone,

I am also applying for Fall 2019 (still debating on Online vs. Traditional). Looking forward to this process with you guys and wishing everyone the best of luck. I have not taken the TEAS, yet. I'm planning to do it at the end of November. That way, if I don't score, as high as, I'd like I can retake late Dec. or early Jan. (I know at UTA TEAS scores aren't important when it comes to ranking but, I am also applying to TWU and with them TEAS scores really matter in their point system) Any pointers anyone can offer is greatly appreciated.

If you go to their website and look at the Virtual Online Info Session, In the video it states students can only apply to either Traditional or Online. Bummer for me because I was really looking forward to applying to both since, I am not at all convinced about doing it Online, but I do get preference for working at a partnered hospital for AO BSN.

Hi everyone!! I submitted both on campus and on-line applications last month for Fall 2019. I wonder if they will require me to withdraw one of the apps?? I prefer the on-line program, but I'm afraid I may not get accepted because I'm not partnered. This will be a second career for me so I prefer the accelerated on-line option since I'm not a traditional student and that option will be more convenient for me. I'm so torn choosing between the two.

Not sure about needing to withdraw, I would speak to an advisor to be for sure. And Don't feel discouraged about the partnered preference, if its anything like the other considerations than it's only worth 0.5 pts. Besides comparing the amt. of applicants they accept for traditional (about 160) vs Online (180) it pretty much evens out everyones' odds since preference is only given to the Online program.

Thank you!!! @JA2018

I emailed advising shortly after my last comment and they confirmed that you can now only apply to one program. After taking Chemistry online this semester I have no desire to do nursing school online. I'll be applying for Campus-based!

Hey y'all I am applying for Fall 2019 as well!

I have not decided if I am going to apply for online or on campus yet. I am partnered and work at a hospital so that would give me a bump for the online program but I think I would really prefer the on campus. I am feeling super torn because I don't want to apply to the on campus and not get in and know that I could have had a better chance for online!

I met with an advisor last week and I have a 3.95 overall GPA and a 4.0 science GPA so hopefully that will be enough! I have already taken the TEAS and have that done.

Good luck to us all!! :)

Hey Guys!

I'm taking my TEAS by the end of November. Applying to UTA AO program as well as some ADN and possibly TWU... Unsure..

I still have to take :

Intro to Nursing

Patho

Pharm

Stats

I'm taking Pharm in the summer 2019 and the remainder spring 2019.

I am currently finishing Sociology and A&P 2

My Science GPA is 3.75 and 3.66 overall. I have 2 considerations and work for a partnered hospital..

I am really hoping I can get in :D!!

I do have one question.. Do they look at our GPA the moment we apply or do they wait till all our grades are in to give us the decision?

Yes, from what I have heard, they do look at the GPA from when you apply because they look at the transcript you submit with it so they look at the grades that are finalized on your transcipt. And I think you have a really good chance at getting accepted with both your considerations and being partnered.. since they add up your GPAs and each considerations are .5 From past pools and and reading other forums advisors have mentioned that at an 8 or above you are in good shape for acceptance..

They will look at your degree plan as of the application deadline. For example, my application deadline was June 1 and I took patho during the summer and pharm this fall, so those classes were not included in my GPA. And yes, if you're partnered you have a significant advantage. I'm partnered and since getting accepted have noticed that many others in my cohort are also partnered.
