UTA BSN & AO BSN - Fall 2019

Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

Published

Hello, all!

I am currently preparing to apply for both the BSN (on campus) and AO BSN programs at UTA, to begin in the Fall of 2019 - I am also applying to TWU's program, as well as two ADN programs.

So far, the only question I have is can I begin taking the Pre-Nursing courses (Intro, Pharm, Patho) after the application deadline? I believe I've read that I can, but I just want to be sure. I am still in the process of completing a few pre-requisite courses and might not get to these in time for the application deadline. Thanks in advance!

Best of luck to everyone!

**UPDATE**

I found the answer to my question, sorry!

Fall '19 applicants (or anyone) feel free to add general comments/questions!

@LDots LOL I know the vid you are talking about! I have never, or don't remember, the part where it talked about seats but then I don't really pay attention to it anymore. I have sat for a spell in the hallway in order to get an appointment but have not had to wait much to talk.

There is so much to do! I get my last Heb B shot Friday. Titer said I was not immune from childhood shots so I had to do the whole series again. I hope I am immune next titer. Had to get a booster for DTaP and dang, it swelled up a huge red knot about 3 inches in diameter.

Her's hoping and praying we both get a spot. I am usually not a worrier but I am so nervous.

I applied for the online program. The waiting is killing me! When I met with an advisor she said they accept around 180 students. She also said my stats look like what they have in the past, but it may be different this year since we were only allowed to apply for the online or campus based program and not both. Everyone keep us posted please!

Was the 180 the number of online students or total online and on campus?

What are your stats? Every day, my stomach gets more knots. Doesn't help with a Pharm test on Thurs. A on the first one. Praying to keep the momentum but seriously, some days I am a wreck inside.

Hey guys! So I emailed the other day about when we will hear back and they said no later than the 15th, but their goal is this week! So make sure you are checking your emails everyday!!! Even your spam! Good luck to everyone!?

I have planned what I am going to take next semester, if it isn't in the cards for me this semester but I really hope it is in the cards for me this semester. Crossing fingers for everyone!!!

@TXNurse97 I don’t have anything left to take after summer. What are you planning on taking?

BTW my stats are GPA 3.547, Science 3.5 and 1 consideration.

I just found this post from last year on the CONHI FB page from Peter Gailiunas.

Hello everyone! One of your friendly admins here. I’d like to take a moment and address something I see pop up countless times each and every semester.

The comparing of stats (ugh).

Ok, so, I’m sure you all don’t care but I’m gonna give it to you straight.

Other peoples “stats” simply do not matter. At all. Seriously. They don’t. I addressed this in a separate post but thought it was worthwhile to expand on the topic here, for all to see.

I’ll get real with you guys here. UTA has a VERY (note the all caps) competitive nursing program. Cool! What does that mean for you all who are trying to get in? Well, it means that just because you have a 3.9 on your sciences, or have a bunch of considerations, or maybe both, does not guarantee you admission. UTA is very fickle, and picky when it comes to applicants.

Why am I sharing this with you guys and gals? I just want to help people understand that posting “let’s compare stats” won’t help in any way whatsoever. In fact, it’s more likely to make you feel less than good about your chances.

So, as an alumnus and working RN, I hope you take this advice to heart. Just work hard and do your best. If it’s meant to be, then it will happen. How well other people are doing doesn’t have any affect on what you bring to the table. You all are unique, with your own strengths and weaknesses. Comparing yourselves to one another is an exercise in futility.

I wish you all the best of luck and hope to be working alongside you one day. After all, UTA turns out some darn fine nurses.

**EDIT: this is not a post trying to denigrate those who compare stats. Instead it is intended to help redirect your energy into making yourself the best candidate you can be.**
