UTA AP BSN Spring 2014

Published

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to start a new thread for those of us applying this May for the Spring 2014 entry into the AP BSN program. I have been working on my prerequisites for the last year and still have about 5 classes left to take. I will also be taking my HESI in May. I am so excited to get the nursing program started, but really nervous as well! I will have to work full time during the program and hope that it will work out. I am currently partnered with Cook Children's. Anyone else out there fixing to apply for Spring 2014 entry?

I received my confirmation email from UTA. I submitted my background check already also. I am trying to stay on top of the deadlines. Also -----, said that everyone should wait AFTER December 21, 2013 to take the drug test. Otherwise, you would have to repeat it. I know some of you are heartbroken because you are wait-listed but please don't give up HOPE. I was wait-listed twice. I would recommend getting partnered with a hospital. I'm partnered with Methodist Mansfield.

Can you give us any advice? How the program works? And how the classes are the first semester. I don't want to go in blind-sighted.

Specializes in ICU, step down, dialysis.

Congrats on your acceptance! I'm Jr 1 now, and let me tell you it is not hard but VERY time consuming! You have to stay on top of everything. There is no time to catch up. We have students with precious bachelor degrees in biology, chemistry, etc. They say it is nothing they have ever experienced before! It is a marathon. No weekends, no nights out, no life. BUT.... It is just 15 months:))) You can do it! Good luck to you all!

Hello all!!

I'm currently in the RN to BSN online program through UTA, and I'm REALLY hoping someone can give me feedback on BIOL 3309, Medical Terminology.

Since I'm already an RN, common sense tells me that this class should be a breeze, but the syllabus is SO vague that I can't be sure! I am taking one traditional class at my community college, working full-time nights, and planning a wedding, so I don't want to take on a class that will be TOO crazy!!

Has anyone TAKEN this class, whether online or in the classroom? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me know if you have any helpful advice or suggestions!!

Thank you ALL!

I work as a surgical technologist and it was different than what I expected. It's not only the terminology but the disease and tests that are used to diagnose them. I studied and came out with a low B but I just work in surgery and don't have the nursing background. I had previously made a high A in med-term at a CC.

Congrats to all who got in and those who are anxiously awaiting the call off the wait list. I was wait-listed as well. My question is how do you get partnered with a hospital? I personally have no medical background, so the only thing I see being able to apply for would be clerical or food service. Then, the program recommends not working more than 20 hours. So, do I get a job at a hospital now, but then have to tell them to knock it down to part-time if I get called off the wait list? I'm just really confused on the whole partnering aspect of the applications process. Thanks for any insight or advice. I could sure use it.

Does anyone know when the start date for the program is? I have heard that orientation is January 7-8 for the ap Bsn program.

Oh ok, they have a Facebook page and they posted the 7-8th. And thanks I'm on the wait list but just trying to plan ahead just in case I get a spot.

Please don't take this class simple...I did and it kicked my ass. It's not a difficult class but it require a tremendous amount of time... The exams are worth a lot and you have 30 min to take 50 questions...so if you don't know the info you are screwed.
