UTA Academic Partnership with Baylor Hospital System

Published

Hi,

I am an employee at Baylor Dallas, and I was wondering if anyone has heard anything from UTA about the BSN academic partnership program that officially starts Jan.10, 2010 (the nursing classes not prerequisites). I am also just curious to talk to others who applied.;)

Yeah it is really confusing. I am currently taking Patho, Pharmacology, and Intro to Nursing. You have to have these completed before entering into the actual nursing program. You can be accepted into the Academic Parnership and take those courses. Then you apply for the nursing program. I do not have to sign a contract with Parkland once I am completed. All Parkland offers is tuition reimbursement of $3000 per year. So I have to pay for the program upfront and then request for reimbursement. As of now there has been no financial aid (student loans) available through UTA Academic Partnership. They stated since it is decreased tuition the school was not allowing loans to be available. But I see now that they have changed it and loans are going to be available starting in January. That was my biggest concern. Trying to still work full time and pay for the $16,000 tuition and books. I also received the e-mails (2) stating I had been accepted but it was an error in the system. There are 9 start dates per year for the classes. So everytime a class starts they send out those stupid e-mails. Anyways, hopefully I receive my letter tomorrow!!! Let me know when the rest of ya'll hear something. Good Luck!

Yeah when I called on yesterday, they told me letters had not been sent out yet. The only class I had left to take was Concepts, which I am taking now @ UTA; because I was already a UTA student and was also taking regular business classes on campus. I have not received anything at all from the academic partnership.

I noticed that my unofficial transcript in MyMav says, "2009-10-20: Active in Program; Nurse Undeclared AP Intended" at the top. Wonder if that is significant? Good luck to you all!

O My. Just realized that today is Veterans day. There will be no mail today guys! Post office is closed. :o

Hi guys. I wanted to give y'all an update. I spoke with my advisor. He said letters are ready to be mailed out today. However, since the mail is not running today they will officially be mailed tomorrow. Also for the employees of partnered hospitals, they changed the program. You do NOT have to be partnered to apply. It is open to all. So we should know something by Friday or saturday. Good luck to all.

thanks for calling! I guess Jellybean got the letter for the AP program and not the nursing program. Which is strange because, either way, I never got a letter for the AP Program in the mail, just emails.

Hey guys, I'm pretty sure I got the letter for the nursing program. The letter says "CONGRATULATIONS! We are pleased to invite you to join the Academic Partnership BSN program at the University of Texas at Arlington School of Nursing starting January 18, 2010." It has a BSN Acceptance Form that has to be returned to secure my place in the January 2010 class as well as instructions for a background check that has to be done prior to the program so I will be granted permission to write the NCLEX-RN Exam.

I have completed all my prereqs including Patho, Pharm & Concepts as well as upper level electives. So I'm confident the letter is the acceptance to the program. I can only speculate as to why letters did not go out for you guys but maybe because I am unpaired. Who knows...but when you get your letters please let me know the contents of it. (2 white papers (acceptance letter), 2 purple papers (return acceptance letter), 1 orange paper(background check), & 1 grey paper (immunizaiton record sheet))

Good Luck!!! I'm sure you all got in, I know the waiting is so painful!! :icon_hug:

yes, that sounds about right! I also have similar papers for my acceptance to the regular 2 yr program, except I do not have the immunizations form yet. Maybe they only sent out acceptance letters first, and then rejection letters go out next? That's the only logical explanation, in my opinion.

Hi Jellybean First of all Congratulations!!!!!

I am just curious as to what immunizations you need? I was accepted into the 2 year BSN program at UTA and they should be sending out a packet to me real soon and Im assuming it will say the immunizations that I will need too :) But just thought I'd get a head start

Thank you Misspink!! Congratulations to you as well!!:yeah:

The immunizations that you need to have record of are:

Hepatitis B series of 3 shots

Mumps Measles Rubella (MMR)

Chicken Pox--vaccine or if you've had it

Tdap (Tetorifice, Diptheria w/Pertussis) Vaccine/Booster within the last 10yrs

TB Skin Test (must be current within one year & good for the entire semester)

If you can not find the dates that you had these immunizations you can have a Titer pulled to show your immunization.

Hope this helps!! Congrats again!!

I received my acceptance letter in the mail just now. yay!!!!!!!! :)

Yeah!! Congratulations Goopsy!! I knew it had to be in the mail...now you have a big decission to make--seated class or fast track??? :yeah:

Let us know... :D
