Hi all! I am currently in my Junior 2 semester with the UTA Academic partnership. Let me tell you...it is absolutely crazy!! I will fill ya'll in some info that is not relayed during initial meetings with counselors. First, I love this program. But, it is VERY stressful and super fast-paced. I was not prepared for this when I signed up. I was working full-time at first, as the counselor said it would be no problem. Well, it was. I had to quit my job and focus on school full-time. You will be spending a minimum of 50-60 hours per week doing assignments, reading, and studying. Then you have clinicals on top of that, which is another 20 hours per week. There are 3 different sites that are partnered with UTA in which you will be assigned to one, Parkland, Baylor, or Medical City. Clincal days are not guaranteed to be the same each course. So you have to have flexibility in your schedule. For example, last semester we had clinicals on Sat/Sun. This semester it is Sun/Mon for one course and then Fri/Sat for another. There are not guarantees. You have to remember that this program is set up to be completed in 13months. Traditional programs are 24 months. You still have to learn everything that the traditional program learns but at a MUCH faster rate. So you will feel very overwhelmed at first, as most all of us did. But, you have to hang in there and keep telling yourself how much you want it and it is so worth it! Well I hope I have answered some of ya'lls questions. Feel free to ask. Good luck to all!

Hey guys...I got accepted also!!!!

Hi guys. I wanted to give y'all an update. I spoke with my advisor. He said letters are ready to be mailed out today. However, since the mail is not running today they will officially be mailed tomorrow. Also for the employees of partnered hospitals, they changed the program. You do NOT have to be partnered to apply. It is open to all. So we should know something by Friday or saturday. Good luck to all.

Yeah it is really confusing. I am currently taking Patho, Pharmacology, and Intro to Nursing. You have to have these completed before entering into the actual nursing program. You can be accepted into the Academic Parnership and take those courses. Then you apply for the nursing program. I do not have to sign a contract with Parkland once I am completed. All Parkland offers is tuition reimbursement of $3000 per year. So I have to pay for the program upfront and then request for reimbursement. As of now there has been no financial aid (student loans) available through UTA Academic Partnership. They stated since it is decreased tuition the school was not allowing loans to be available. But I see now that they have changed it and loans are going to be available starting in January. That was my biggest concern. Trying to still work full time and pay for the $16,000 tuition and books. I also received the e-mails (2) stating I had been accepted but it was an error in the system. There are 9 start dates per year for the classes. So everytime a class starts they send out those stupid e-mails. Anyways, hopefully I receive my letter tomorrow!!! Let me know when the rest of ya'll hear something. Good Luck!

Hi Jellybean, Congrats on your acceptance! I am curious...Was your acceptance letter into the Nursing program or the Academic Partnership? You will receive 2 different letters. I am accepted into the Academic Partnership and currently taking classes. However, there is a seperate application for the actual nursing program. No one in our class received letters today and someone called and they said letters hadn't been mailed out yet? Just curious as I have been hearing so many different things. Also, I just e-mailed my advisor and they did just change the policy to where financial aid is available. So that will help out a lot!! Congrats again!

Hi goopsy, Do you work at a partnered hospital? I work at a Parkland, which is partnered with UTA. I also applied to begin in January. I am just wondering how people are able to apply for the program without being partnered. I was told that was a requirement. I was just wondering. Also, if not partnered do you know no student loans or financial aid is available? Well please let me know if you hear anything.

Hi ICAN...I applied for this semester at TVCC also. I am just waiting as well. It seems like forever! So if you don't mind me asking, how many points did you have? I wish they would hurry up and send out letters. Well keep me posted if you hear anything.
