UT houston spring 2010 hopefuls

Published

hi there, I'm a spring 2010 UT houston hopefull, I'm trying to see who else is embarking on this journey so we can support each other. I really enjoyed tracking the Fall 2009 class, and I hope we can do the same. I still have a few classes to take. I am currently taking chemistry. As of now my science GPA is 3.33, and overall gpa is 3.61. I am taking the net in May.

Can't wait to hear from others.

Specializes in none as of yet, hoping for ped oncology!.
I take the NET this Saturday and I am studying with the ERI study guide I purchased at Majors Book Store in the Med Center and I just read the "written expression" section and it's mainly pro-noun usage, subject-verb agreement etc. Could someone who has taken the NET already explain to me what this section of the NET is like? Are we writing a sample and they critique it? Or are we identifying these grammatical correlations in a given writing? I am a little confused. Also a heads up to all those applying to UTMB as a back-up, like myself, the deadline is this Friday.

They give you sentences/phrases and you have to identify them as fragments, run-ons, or correct sentences. Then there are sentences with a blank and four options to choose from such as who, whom, him, he. You don't write anything.

Anyone else starting to wonder what we are going to need if we get into UT? I've been checking out scrubs and stethoscopes lol:coollook:

cjbarnes-

So they dont say "what is the pronoun in this sentence?'' I was just wondering if I needed to memorize what they are called? Also, does this section factor into the "reading" section or does it have it's own score? I know there is a cumulative score but I know UT focuses on the reading and math so just wondering if that is included? Thanks! BTW- great job on your NET score

I have no clue but I am sure those things wont be needed until clinicals...when I was a Surgical Tech in clinicals we had to wear scrubs provided by the hospital since each one has different "scrub" requirements. Some places like Methodist for instance didnt allow you to wear different scrubs. TOH allows you to have "scrub fridays" like casual Friday if you will....they are all different.

No you aren't identify pronouns or nouns, you are choosing the best one. Harder, but still relatively simple. I don't think the written expression test is not computed with your reading comprehension score, but I can't seem to find my score report to confirm that. If I find it, I will come back and confirm that.

And thanks, good luck on your own test!

Yes, but I like to online window shop lol. Actually I think someone told me the school requires you wear navy scrubs? I may have that wrong though. I'm pretty sure we will need a stethoscope and blood pressure cup however.

No doubt...I would wait though. Thats like buying a TI-82 calc.and the teacher saying you needed the TI-93 on the first day of class. Waste of mula. I have done that before ....LOL...ok back to studying NET

I know, I'm just window shopping. I won't buy anything until I get accepted somewhere! But I still enjoy looking.

Once again, good luck on your NET

i studied for the HESI A2 and did really well... do you guys think I should look over anything for the NET? If I make the same composite grade on the NET as I did on the HESI, I'd be happy with it. Were there any major differences between the two tests?

I hear they are different. I would brush up on your reading and math. If you go to google and type in NET study guide there are free practice problems. That way you can compare and brush up on anything the HESI didnt cover. Good job on your score! I take the Net this saturday. My name is Erin...may be I will see you there?

I'm not sure...where are you taking it?
