Anyone here applied already?
Have you taken the NET exam?
Hey does anyone know what I can do...
I attended all my classes at HCC, I never went to any other college so I have no other transripts.
However, my CUMULATIVE GPA at HCC is a 3.176, but on UTLink my undergrad GPA says 2.6660
I remember seeing the "2.66" on my HCC "unofficial transcript" but I'm beginning to suspect that they did not remove low scores from my GPA until only recently!! What I mean is, I had made some Fs, etc. in classes that I recently repeated in the summer and fall. And only recently do the old low scores say "excluded from gpa". So I'm thinking that the transcripts I sent to UT Houston.. those old low score were still included in my GPA!!
I e-mailed UT Houston about the difference in GPAs... Because it's not like I've ever been to any other school, so my cumulative gpa at HCC and my undergraduate GPA on UTLink should match up right?
But sometimes UT Houston takes awhile to respond. I would call now but it's late so I'll call in the morning but I just don't like having to call because I either won't get an answer or I'll be transferred a million times - that's always what happens...
Does anyone have any other ideas of what I should do?
Did anyone else have any problems of their GPAs not matching up?
I would call in the morning and have them look at everything. Have the new scores been sent? I can not remember, did you interview already? If not then You could explain everything to the interviewer. Otherwise, you should have HCC send the new transcripts. Good Luck.
When I sent my transcripts electronically before the deadline, my GPA was still 2.66. It has only recently changed because HCC is always so slow about everything!
Like I said, I e-mailed UT Houston but I will also call in the morning. I also e-mailed a counselor at HCC who has always been helpful (even if it's not a "counselor"type problem, he always helps me) to ask him about it so that I can better explain it to UT Houston.
I'm just hoping that they allow me to send another transcript, even though the deadline has already passed.
Would it be appropriate to bring that up in my interview? I could just ask real quickly at the end of my interview to see what they say... but I'm afraid my interviewer would probably just say to call and that they don't know.. lol
Edit: It's not like I'm trying to add any classes or anything, it's just that HCC didn't remove the low scores from my GPA until recently, so now it is higher but it's already way past the deadline for UT Houston!! Hopefully they will be understanding.
Did you do an official grade substitution. I did not go to HCC, but I know at lonestar, You have to fill out this form for your grade to be substituted, or they both count towards your gpa.
I would do whatever it takes, order a new transcript to be sent to UT, email, and call. I do know one thing though..no matter what, be polite and courteous. I was reading through a previous semester thread, and this woman with a very high GPA apparently was rude with the UT admins and well, she did not get in. I am not saying this was the reason, but I would not take the chance.
When is your interview?
I hope I have someone to talk to while we wait.
My interview is the 16th. Oh no don't worry I'm always really nice when I call, even if I'm frustrated. I used to work at a Chinese restaurant doing the phone orders and stuff so I know firsthand that when someone is rude, it makes you not want to help them at all!! lol So whenever I call I'm always really polite that way they'll be nice back to me!!

That's most def. true! :) Now thats one question I wish I could go back and answer now....I'm worried I used my atheltic background to much. (it really is the worst feeling in the world though and im sure you seen people freak over sports when they lose in something.)
MAN, it's just so nerve racking now once you've already done you interview...waiting feels like a lifetime! When I get the acceptance/rejection letter...I'm going to give it to my grandma(whom can't speak english) to read it to me lol so i dont pass out right away
