Yes, it is extremely early to begin talking about the Spring 2018 class, however, I thought it would be nice if we could all get together here and go through our pre-req/application/acceptance journey. It would be fun to lend support, chronicle our stresses and excitements and see how everything unfolds for us from now until the first day of class (assuming we get accepted).
I'll start:
I'm taking my pre-reqs at Lonestar (10 hrs for Spring, 14 hrs for Summer). I plan to take 18 hrs for Fall and will be testing out of 15 hrs via CLEP. I work PRN in a Critical Care unit at a major hospital. I will be taking the HESI in May; once Spring semester ends. Lastly, I have high hopes to be accepted into the Honors program once I am eligible to apply, since I have a deep interest in research.
I hope to hear from some of you! The application deadline is September 1 and there is a webinar info session at 10am tomorrow.
God bless.
Wow, really? I'm super confused right now because I couldn't find anything about NursingCAS on the website, and when I completed NursingCAS for other schools, I even looked for UT Health on there just to be sure, and it wasn't on the list under TX BSN nursing schools. Instead, I filled out an application specific to UTHealth and submitted that, and I'm also getting updates on MyUTH portal. Am I missing something?
I applied but didn't see anything about nursingcas. I don't think nursingcas has anything to do with uth

Yeah, I think people are getting confused with different schools like TWU and UTMB, which do use NursingCAS. If anyone else is still wondering, I called UTH to confirm, so we're good to go! Thanks for following up!
Hi guys! I have a question, I am trying to submit my UTHealth application, however, on the very first part of the application it asks for the program you are applying to (pacesetter BSN in my case). NOTHING I input will work!! I think it's asking for like an abbreviation maybe? But can someone help?! Not sure what to input and really need to get this submitted. I will try calling the SON tomorrow but I haven't typically had luck getting through to them in the past.
I'm applying as well. I just took the HESI A2 today and got:
96 overall.
92 Reading
94 Grammar
94 Vocabulary
100 A&P
100 Math
My nursing prereq GPA (excluding American and Texas Gov, Philosophy, Art, and the 5 credit elective b/c I'm not sure what would be counted) is 3.42
and my science GPA is 3.88.
The downside is that I have 2 Fs and a D+ on my transcript but the Fs are gonna be replaced with the D+ I mentioned and a B.
The D+ won't count against me (in the sense that it won't disqualify my application and it doesn't seem to affect my GPA very much at this point) but I'm still hopeful about being admitted.
Hi! I am planning on retaking the Hesi A2 towards the end of this month. I didn't do so well on the vocab and A&P section the first time around, so I wanted to know any tips that will help me prepare for it better this time. Also, has anyone taken the second version of the test? Is it harder than the first version?

I took V2 and didn't think it was any more difficult than the 1st time. I bought a study guide, but found several apps that I liked better. I preferred the convenience of looking at sample questions on my phone. I only brought my score up about 3 points to a 94, so can't say for sure what study material or methods worked best.
Hey guys! I'm looking to apply to UTH's Spring 18 semester as well. Over this summer I'll be taking A&P II as well as Composition II and in the fall I have Microbio, Pathophysiology, Psychology, and Nursing Theories. I haven't scheduled the HESI yet but does anyone know if we only need to take it one time even if we're applying to two different nursing schools? I'm not sure how all of it works.
I don't know if anyone replied to you yet, however I do know that you can take the test once as long as you remember all the sections you need for both schools. You'll register for one school take all required sections for both schools and then request an extra transcript to be sent from elseivier to the remaining school.

Be careful though if you do wanna take it multiple times because you can only take it twice under UTHealths school code.

Hi, so I too am applying for the BSN pacesetter program in the spring at UTHealth. TWU was my first choice (saves $ money on nursing books, cause my sister attends there). However, I was just notified that I have absolutely zero chance of being admitted into their nursing program due to missing one core prerequisite ( it was Elementary Statistics). So yeah, if I don't get admitted into UTHealth, I'm not sure what I will do cause I want to graduate in winter of 2019(1.5-2 years more earlier than most people in my graduating high school class).
But back to the topic. Here's my stats when I applied:
Pre-Req GPA: 3.911
Science GPA: 3.8 (*shakes fist at A&P1*)
HESI: taking it 5 days from now
Out of my pre-reqs, I still need to complete statistics, sociology and chemistry.( They don't accept AP credit for sciences, another reason why TWU was my first choice.) I finished the majority of my pre-reqs while I was in high school (graduated in May 2017). Another fear I have besides not being accepted is that they take age into consideration. Mental picture: They'll look at my application, and say hey this person just graduated high school and applying straight into our program, we should wait a bit, cause he probably needs time to mature ._.
Btw: Are we required to live on campus? Most of my friends are attending universities that do require them to stay on campus for their first year/_/
