UT Health Pacesetter BSN Spring 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Yes, it is extremely early to begin talking about the Spring 2018 class, however, I thought it would be nice if we could all get together here and go through our pre-req/application/acceptance journey. It would be fun to lend support, chronicle our stresses and excitements and see how everything unfolds for us from now until the first day of class (assuming we get accepted).

I'll start:

I'm taking my pre-reqs at Lonestar (10 hrs for Spring, 14 hrs for Summer). I plan to take 18 hrs for Fall and will be testing out of 15 hrs via CLEP. I work PRN in a Critical Care unit at a major hospital. I will be taking the HESI in May; once Spring semester ends. Lastly, I have high hopes to be accepted into the Honors program once I am eligible to apply, since I have a deep interest in research.

I hope to hear from some of you! The application deadline is September 1 and there is a webinar info session at 10am tomorrow.

God bless.

Are you sure UTHealth using NursingCAS?

I believe that when i applied for the bsn Pacesetter application, it used the nursingcas system. Now I check my status through MyUTH portal

Wow, really? I'm super confused right now because I couldn't find anything about NursingCAS on the website, and when I completed NursingCAS for other schools, I even looked for UT Health on there just to be sure, and it wasn't on the list under TX BSN nursing schools. Instead, I filled out an application specific to UTHealth and submitted that, and I'm also getting updates on MyUTH portal. Am I missing something?

Just wondering for anyone that has begun their application- I click on the "apply now" and the page takes me to the oracle/peoplesoft sign in. Am I supposed to have an oracle account already made? I am very confused and wondering if that's normal :( . I've never applied to a school before so I'm super nervous.

@Tess73, when I clicked on the "Apply Now" link on their website, it didn't lead me to that Oracle/ Peoplesoft page that I see now. It took me to a page where it gave me the option to create an account, and then go from there to complete the application. Once you submit, you'll receive two different emails providing you with your username and password to log in to your MyUTH portal to view the status of your application. I would contact the school to see if maybe there's another link they can provide you.

I know @Aria2395 mentioned NursingCAS, but I have no information on that, so just be sure to double-check with the school to make sure you're on the right page. I should check with them, too, just to be sure.

Thank you for answering so clearly! I can't believe I'm already stuck on step 1:sniff: I had my friend try clicking on the "apply now" today to check if it was simply me but he also ran into the same issue. So I am thinking that it must be something on UTH's end? I even tried multiple computers/browser types throughout the day to receive the same message. Hopefully, they fix it soon!

I'm so sorry for confusing you. I just checked the site again and saw the Oracle website, which is brand new for those of us who already applied. I would follow what nrhvy said. Again I'm so very sorry.

@Tess73! It's working now! I just clicked on the link again (here it is, just incase: https://apply.uth.tmc.edu/psp/applyuth/APPLYUTH/ENTP/h/?tab=UT_EP_NVT_APPLYUTH) and it took me to a Welcome page with a section for New Users and Returning Users. Hope it works for you! Good luck!

@nrvhy Omg Thank you so much!! :) I'm so grateful for your help.

Thank you for taking the time to educate all of us looking to apply! I have a few questions pertaining to your post. First off, I am a first generation student coming from a single-parent, low-income household so financial aid is a must for me. Have you heard of anyone receiving a full ride or anything close to that? Secondly, how long after you find out that you're accepted do you have to actually accept the offer? Personally, I have to wait until I know how much financial aid will be offered before I commit to the school because I already have a full ride where I am at currently but UTH is my dream.

I'm not sure if anyone else has submitted their application for UTH Pacesetter BSN yet but does anyone know if there is a way to go back and edit it? I have already submitted the application but I forgot to add another entry to my "Work" section.

With financial aid, once your accepted they will let you know if you have been awarded anything about 4-6seeks before it starts. I'm starting in August and I still haven't heard if I have gotten anything. I have heard of people getting at least all of their tuition covered!

Hey ya'll!

I was an applicant last semester and am pretty familiar with the way things work as far as grades, transcripts, degree evaluations, acceptances/declines/waitlists and all that go. If ya'll need any help with anything I am more than happy to answer questions. Hope this helps.

Tell us everything you know! How is that people with 4.0 gpa's are denied and people with a 3.3 gpa's are accepted?
