UT Health Pacesetter BSN Spring 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Yes, it is extremely early to begin talking about the Spring 2018 class, however, I thought it would be nice if we could all get together here and go through our pre-req/application/acceptance journey. It would be fun to lend support, chronicle our stresses and excitements and see how everything unfolds for us from now until the first day of class (assuming we get accepted).

I'll start:

I'm taking my pre-reqs at Lonestar (10 hrs for Spring, 14 hrs for Summer). I plan to take 18 hrs for Fall and will be testing out of 15 hrs via CLEP. I work PRN in a Critical Care unit at a major hospital. I will be taking the HESI in May; once Spring semester ends. Lastly, I have high hopes to be accepted into the Honors program once I am eligible to apply, since I have a deep interest in research.

I hope to hear from some of you! The application deadline is September 1 and there is a webinar info session at 10am tomorrow.

God bless.

Hi!

I'm interested to know what your stats were when you applied. I'm pretty sure there is not a definite rhyme or reason for admission, but have heard the HESI scores are the first thing they take into consideration? Do you agree with that?

My other question is regarding financial aid. When I applied for 2017/2018 I put UT as a school, but also one other that I'm going to apply for. Then I read somewhere that putting more then one school can delay the process?

On that same note, how is financial aid done? Are scholarships easy to get while in the program and if you're eligible for a pell grant does that cover most of it?

Thanks for being willing to answer questions! :)

Hi! I am also applying to UTH for Spring 2018. I just wanted to know if there were any nurses that graduated from the program from previous years who would be able to give us an insight to a how the program was. The whole admission process can be nerve werking, so I just want to know how it will be afterwards.

Hi Sophie! Would you be able to give us an insight to a how the program is so far? The whole admission process can be nerve werking, so I just want to know what to expect afterwards. Would I be able to work as well?

Hey guys! I got accepted into the Fall 2017 program so I just went through everything you're going through and wanted to help answer some questions I saw. First off: do not assume that if you have a 4.0 GPA and a perfect HESI score that you are a shoe in. I personally got accepted with a 91 on my HESI, an overall GPA of a 3.6 and a science GPA of 3.75. There are some great candidates that I saw with perfect scores that either got waitlisted or not accepted at all, so I am convinced it is not just about grades. I will say though that the HESI seemed pretty important when it comes to acceptance. You can take it twice under the UTH school code, it doesn't matter when you take them, it just can't be more than twice. I saw a question about scholarships and financial aid: APPLY FOR THE UTH SCHOLARSHIP. They give away a ton of money and its not just money from the school its from donors as well. Financial Aid is done all in one. If you submitted your fafsa, they will tell you everything you qualify for about 4-6 weeks before class starts. (We haven't even gotten our awards yet). They told us at Admitted Students day last week that campus housing has a waitlist right now and it resets every year on January 1st at midnight. I haven't started yet so I am not 100% sure on this but from what I have heard it is possible to work if you have a very flexible schedule. I am a server so I plan on only working 1 or 2 days a week, it'll be a lot but it is possible. I think I answered everything I saw but if you have any other questions feel free to ask!

Hi guys! Just checked UTH's pre-reqs and it looks like I'm eligible to apply- I think!

Question about the chemistry required: What specific chemistry course is required? General chem? Introductory? Organic?

I haven't even submitted my application or my transcripts but just wanted some insight before I do so.

Thanks and good luck to us all!

For the chemistry it's usually intro but it also depends which school you're transferring from. I originally took inorganic at Sam Houston (CHEM 1406) but that didn't transfer so I had to take 1405 at lonestar. There's a transfer guide on UTH website though

hey y'all. i applied for fall2017 and got denied, so i'm shooting for spring 2018. i was wondering if we can resubmit the same hesi we took from before? so can i submit the same hesi score i submitted for my fall2017 application?

What are your stats?

Just wondering for anyone that has begun their application- I click on the "apply now" and the page takes me to the oracle/peoplesoft sign in. Am I supposed to have an oracle account already made? I am very confused and wondering if that's normal :( . I've never applied to a school before so I'm super nervous.

On the nursingcas application you must make a new account if you don't have one

Yes, they keep all your previous transcripts and HESI scores on file from the last application.

Are you sure UTHealth using NursingCAS?
