UT Health Pacesetter BSN Spring 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Yes, it is extremely early to begin talking about the Spring 2018 class, however, I thought it would be nice if we could all get together here and go through our pre-req/application/acceptance journey. It would be fun to lend support, chronicle our stresses and excitements and see how everything unfolds for us from now until the first day of class (assuming we get accepted).

I'll start:

I'm taking my pre-reqs at Lonestar (10 hrs for Spring, 14 hrs for Summer). I plan to take 18 hrs for Fall and will be testing out of 15 hrs via CLEP. I work PRN in a Critical Care unit at a major hospital. I will be taking the HESI in May; once Spring semester ends. Lastly, I have high hopes to be accepted into the Honors program once I am eligible to apply, since I have a deep interest in research.

I hope to hear from some of you! The application deadline is September 1 and there is a webinar info session at 10am tomorrow.

God bless.

Tell us everything you know! How is that people with 4.0 gpa's are denied and people with a 3.3 gpa's are accepted?

Affirmative Action...that's how. I actually think there may be other deciding factors, but that is definitely on top of the list.

when exactly is the UT Health Pacesetter BSN Spring 2018 deadline date?

Is it August 15th or September 1st?

ATI TEAS SECRETS by Mometrix has been highly recommended across the board. I am currently using it now for my test coming up. I have also read that purchasing extra practice tests have been helpful. Good luck!

Remember that you don't have to resubmit any transcripts or test scores, unless you have taken additional classes or have a new HESI score to report. So you'll just be paying for the application fee again. I'm scheduled for this Saturday, 7/22. If you register via PSI testing centers, it's $15 more ($115 instead of $100), but you'll have more testing date/time options. Just something to consider! I totally lost track of all the little costs that have added up - it's so much! But I'm trying to stay focused on the end goal so I won't be so depressed about all that money spent haha. Good luck!

Soooooo, this is something we spent the whole application/admission period trying to figure out. Nobody really knows for sure but I have a few guesses.

My first guess is they look at experience as a whole. How many credit hours do you have? Have you been employed and for how long? Were you employed during the time that you were in school? What is your experience in the medical field? Do you have prior degrees?

For example, someone who has completed a Bachelor's degree with a cumulative score of 3.2 and working full time vs. someone that has either worked part-time or hasn't worked at all while they were completing the pre-requisites for this program and has a 4.0. Who are you going to choose?

Does that make sense? It may not even be that deep. Another guess is: say they set a standard at 3.2 for cumulative (which is hire then the minimum requirement on the website), a 3.5 for science, and a 3.4 for prerequisites. Then they put everyone who meets that in a pile and just chooses random candidates.

Another guess, lottery system. If you meet the requirements then technically you're qualified for admission. They would be disappointing if that's the case because then what would be the point of working so hard to get in, right?

Hope this helps. If you have anymore questions about anything else to expect coming up i'll answer as best as I can. :)

I'm going with lottery system

I'm going with lottery system

Lol. Based upon what we've seen in the past it would definitely make sense.
