Yes, it is extremely early to begin talking about the Spring 2018 class, however, I thought it would be nice if we could all get together here and go through our pre-req/application/acceptance journey. It would be fun to lend support, chronicle our stresses and excitements and see how everything unfolds for us from now until the first day of class (assuming we get accepted).
I'll start:
I'm taking my pre-reqs at Lonestar (10 hrs for Spring, 14 hrs for Summer). I plan to take 18 hrs for Fall and will be testing out of 15 hrs via CLEP. I work PRN in a Critical Care unit at a major hospital. I will be taking the HESI in May; once Spring semester ends. Lastly, I have high hopes to be accepted into the Honors program once I am eligible to apply, since I have a deep interest in research.
I hope to hear from some of you! The application deadline is September 1 and there is a webinar info session at 10am tomorrow.
God bless.
Is the UTH nursing program more rigorous than the TWU program? Or are both equally demanding? Only wondering since there is a big difference in the length of the program.
I'm not currently in either, but have spoken to several that have attended both programs. The UT program is definitely more rigorous simply due to it being 8 or 9 months shorter. I know several people that have opted for other schools over UT when receiving multiple acceptances simply due to the intense nature of a short program.
Hi there, UTH covers the same material as TWU but in a lot less time. Therefore, it's much more rigorous. It's highly recommended that you don't work while attending UTH, but TWU allows you to work because you have more free time. Like someone else said, both have great pass rates but UTH is known nationally based on their graduate programs. My suggestion would be to apply to both. Nursing school is extremely competitive, so if you only get accepted to one program your decision will already be made for you. Good luck!

Hi. I'm my opinion I would choose UT because I have heard amazing things about the program and it's half as long as other programs. However, a friend of mine graduated from TWU and loved it so again it depends on how long of a program you want. Not sure about UT but I've heard that TWU gives you a job during the summer so you're getting paid while still learning in a hospital setting.
