UT Austin Alternate Entry 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Updated:   Published

Hey everyone! I did not see a post for applicants for Ut Austin's Alternate Entry MSN program for 2020, so I started one! I know the application just opened a few days ago but with all everyone balances, I figure why not start now? I am applying for their PMNHP specialty.

how did your interview go @jwelch!?

I think that it went well... but I wish that I had done a better job of expressing my thoughts/organizing my responses. As @KB417 said, the two professors who conducted the interview were extremely warm, welcoming and made the interview as relaxed as possible. That being said, I was still super nervous and most definitely forgot certain things. But I did my best in that moment, which is all that we can do! Good luck @amg94 and to everyone else who is interviewing!

I feel the exact same way in regards to my interview! I felt I had so much more to add and forgot to sprinkle in. However, some of the questions didn’t allow that and I stayed on topic. Now, we wait ?

Good luck to everyone interviewing soon!

did they ask any questions about what you're currently doing or was it more asking why youre interested in their program/why you want to be a nurse

No, nothing about what I was currently doing. Main focus was on what led me to the program, where I picture myself after, why an MSN versus a BSN, describing a stressful situation and how I resolved it, and they shared more on what to expect from the first year.

Has anyone received a straight rejection yet? ? still no interview invite for me.

Hey everyone, I just wanted to let everyone know that I bit the bullet and e-mailed Tracy asking what the protocol is as far as rejections/interview invites. I know she said not to, I was just getting overrun with anxiety and decided I wanted to reach out and ask even if I made her mad. LOL. I am so glad I did. She let me know that the way the interviews are organized is by giving a list of interviewees to the professors conducting the interviews and giving them a deadline. Therefore, they conduct the interviews based on their schedules and as long as they are completed by the deadline, then any timeline is fine. She told me that there are some professors that have not reached out yet and that not hearing anything does not mean you did not get an interview even though many people from your chosen specialty have already gotten requests/completed interviews. It simply means that your interview request is coming later. I hope this helps give you some peace of mind. Congratulations to those who have interviewed and those who have scheduled interviews! For those of you who haven't heard back yet, keep the faith! Your invite is coming!

@EtheGreat is the real MVP! ?

I just found this thread after stalking last year’s thread! I got an interview offer for the CNS program. So excited - but nervous!

Good luck to everyone! I hope to meet some of you soon!
