UT Arlington Online RN-BSN July 2, 2012 Hopefuls

Specializes in ICU.

I have all my transcripts and paperwork sent into UTA and am expecting to start the RN-BSN online program on 07/02/2012. I have received acceptance to the university, but not to the Nursing Department yet. Anybody else planning on starting the online program in early July? If so have you heard anything from the Department of Nursing at the college?

Commonsense,

I started in March with gen ed courses. First nursing course will be on July 2nd. Your acceptance letter to the university and school of nursing (academic partnership) will come in 3 different emails to your student account at UTA. Glad to have someone else starting too!

Thanks for the info on the acceptance letters amyrnfa. About how long before you started did you get your acceptance letters? I'm glad to meet someone starting the same semester as me as well. How many general education courses will you have left to complete when you start your nursing courses?

All 3 letters came on same day. One is your course map, another is EPIC password, and the 3rd is just general info. It usually takes 3 weeks from the time they get your transcripts to the day they email your course map. Do not go by what mymav says, it is totally wrong. Print your course map out to keep a hard copy. I have Stats, Hist I & II, a literature course to take. I am in tech writing :( and biol 3309(nursing elective) at the present.

I received my course map today with a July 2 start date. Unfortunately, I will be on vacation the first two weeks of July. I don't have to take any other prerequisiste courses thanks to my previous bachelor's degree. I am actually wondering if these are self-paced enough that I could wing it and play catch-up the last three weeks of 3645A instead of pushing my start date back.

Each week there are assignments, discussions, quizzes, etc. due on certain days. I would take your laptop on vacation if you have one or if you can't then you might have to push the start date to the next one

Glad to hear from someone actually in the program, let alone another night owl. How far are you into the program vle4? Can you tell us how hard and time consuming the classes have been so far?

I'm about half way through the program. Hopefully I will finish by December. I started in october but had a couple pre reqs to do. I started the first nursing course (professional nursing a & b) in January. I've been doubling up and taking two classes at a time because I want to finish quickly and get my bsn done and over with lol. So far it isn't too bad. Some assignments may be time consuming but you just have to manage your time and put aside some time to work on assignments. But overall I think it's a good program, it's organized weekly and they tell you what's due each week. I don't think the assignments are hard but some may be time consuming on how you work and do your assignments.

I finished their program a year ago ... yes, there are assignments due EVERY week. It's really only "self-paced" in that you don't have a physical classroom to be in across campus at 2:25pm. Most of my classes had assignments due by the end of the week, but others had discussion questions or other things due as early as Tuesday ... it really depended on who you had for an instructor. I would definitely take the suggestion that vle4 said - take a laptop. If you go two weeks without uploading assignments - you may find yourself dropped from the class, or worse ... having 40% of your grade being a flat zero.

Any current students in Prof Nurs A or Tech Comm??

Specializes in Operating Room.

I am currently in Prof A right now, took Tech Writ in May. So far it has been easy, I much prefer Blackboard over Epic.

What are the clinical requirements for those who aren't working at a partnership facility for the online rn-BSN program? I keep seeing so many different things and I'm just a little confused.
