  1. Tasha is right. The bio bridge course is out-of-pocket, but the sallie mae payment plan is available. This course is really cellular/molecular biology. I am currently about to finish it and have totally been impressed. It takes EVERYTHING down to the cellular level (i.e. homeostasis, chemical bonding, DNA replication, RNA transcription/translation, glycolysis, osmosis, diffusion and acid/base balances). It should be mandatory before Adv. Patho -IMO. There are cases studies each week to help you learn how these processes relate to disease.
  2. The only way to check your status is to contact your admission rep. If your file has been sent to the faculty for review, I would give them at least 2 weeks. Wishing you luck!! I am thoroughly impressed with Simmons so far, but I only have UTA for comparison.
  3. I heard it's a great class! Just did my Welcome Call today and really like the technology of the program.
  4. I want to say somewhere in the $2400-2500 range. Just got my 2sn login info and am really impressed!
  5. Same here! Great GPA and excellent references. Was accepted to 2 other universities, but decided Simmons was the best "fit" for me. I like their format and learning platform. I wanted face-to-face interaction with professors and not just DB or email.
  6. I think this is a legitimate question and I do not believe you are trying to disparage Simmons. It made be because it is new and there is not enough current students from whom prospective students can retrieve information. I know of four students who have not been accepted to Simmons, so it does occur. Most on this forum are looking to make contact with current students or those who will be starting in their cohort. If you are someone who has been denied admission anywhere, I doubt you will start a thread titled “Denied Students” or be interested in what those admitted have to say. To address the standards at Simmons, they do the most comprehensive GPA calculation compared to some other schools. One college that I applied only calculated the last 60 hours and another just considered the GPA from my BSN. My admission rep only called me once and I said I would be in contact when I was ready to apply. I regret that yours was pushy and resorted to salesmen tactics. I truly hope that no one categorizes Simmons with some of the other schools. Sorry I cannot be of anymore help. You can send me a pm if you need some more info.
  7. Yikes! I looked into SU (even started the application) before I realized it was for-profit and decided to apply somewhere else. You should check out the BBB and Ripoff Report | Scams, reviews, complaints, lawsuits and frauds. File a report, post your review. Consumers educating consumers. to see complaints about different schools/companies before investing your time & money.
  8. Me! That is contingent on getting the bio-bridge course completed in September. Congrats to you too!!
  9. Yes, I will take it in Sept. After passing that course, you will be able to start the FNP schedule in November.
  10. My advisor said the same. The deposit wasn't due until the end of summer for the September cohort. I was bummed also about the bridge course. It's because my A&P courses were taken so long ago, but hopefully it will be a good class to get use to the Simmons platform. Anyone else taking this class in Sept, or who has taken it and willing to share pointers?
  11. I just received my acceptance call from Simmons College today! Will be starting in the fall, but taking the bio bridge course first. I was told that I could start the nursing portion in November. Congrats to everyone!!
  12. I am considering UAB too! I took a couple of undergraduate courses there (online) and enjoyed the professors. I am putting my application in at EKU also, because some of their instructors are UAB graduates and they have an excellent pass rate for certification. Good luck to all.
  13. Eastern Kentucky deadline for summer is April 11th. They boast a 100% pass rate on national exams, but they take longer to finish. I believe they require 810 clinical hours.
  14. Glad to see them start a FNP online program. They must be closed for the holidays though because no one in admissions has responded to emails or is answering the phone.
  15. Thank you MonTif! I am still undecided between South U and UAB. Do you feel they are preparing you for certification? Are you in the FNP or ANP program? I hope they get the bugs worked out, but I have found these things in schools that have had online programs for longer periods. There is always fine tuning needing to be done! Congrats on being almost done.
