GA, AL or TX NICU:which would fit me?
I worked at Cook Childrens for 3 years and loved it. 80 bed unit spanned over 2 floors, all private rooms. Neo and NNP's in house 24/7, milk is mixed by dedicated milk bank techs, equipment tech's so you never have to clean an isolette. You will see anything and everything here. Level 4 NICU and Echmo. I left making $34/hour plus shift diff. You won't get a day shift position when first hired, so that is a downfall. But, the morale is usually great and I have made some life long friends there.

Need an alternative to the College Algebra!
I took College Mathematics at SUNY Empire State College, completely online, no proctored exams and completely manageable. I graduated from UTA in December and all you need is a math course that is at the college level, it does NOT have to be algebra. The course is pricey but well worth the money I spent for a piece of mind that I would pass. Good luck. No problems transferring the credit to UTA either.

Math Requirement 1301 or 1302
ABSOLUTELY DO NOT TAKE ALGEBRA AT UTA!! I am awful at Math and knew college algebra was not going to work for me at UTA. I took College Mathematics from Empire State College, completely online, not proctored, but completely doable! The cost was around $1200.00 but worth every penny. I made a B and it satisfies UTA's math requirement. I graduate next month with my BSN from UTA.

Could anyone tell me if the book for nursing research is really needed? Thanks ;-)

Leadership & Mgmt
Could anyone tell me if buying the book for NURS 4455 "Management" class is worth it? Or can the course be used without it. Thanks

College Algebra and Statistics !!
ladyD123, I just started the 8 week Statistics Course at UTA. just took my first quiz and made a 100. I am awful at Algebra, but this seems much different and the instructor seems great and LOTS of resources to understand the material. I did attempt to start the Algebra course with UTA and dropped that within the first day, I knew that it was way over my head. Good Luck and God Speed!

Comparing classes and time
I hate to burst your bubble, but the transition into prof. nursing course is one of the easiest I have taken at UTA. I've learned to pick out which readings are necessary to pass the quizzes and complete the assignments. If you read every single thing they want you to, you will be extremely overwhelmed. Use your grading rubrics as a guide. The coach's don't stray from them and if you addressed each section in the rubric throughly than you will make A's. Doubling up on the nursing courses is doable, but it is a challenge because the courses move so quick. Take holistic health assessment and research ALONE! Take your history courses alone or with something easy like art appreciation or medical terminology. British lit was a little rough for me too, but I took it alone. Any of the other nursing courses could easily be taken together with some detail to time management. Good Luck! You can do it!

vulnerable population 2/24/2014
ladyd123, I am actually taking both of these classes too. The geriatric class is not bad, but the vulnerable population class is just absolutely ridiculous. Do they actually think we read all of this crap! Do think they will actually call the person we interview in the geri class?

Starting FEB 24th with Prof Nurs A and have questions
Prof A was super easy and I actually enjoyed it. Pulled an A with a math class. Good Luck

Holistic health assessments
This class has got to be the biggest waste of time. Not hard at all, just super time consuming, practically retyping the books assessments in your own words and findings. I do this everyday at work assessing patients. This class should be for students that do not already have an RN license. I am just totally fed up with this class and the coach's that have nothing substantial to say and give little to no feedback on anything. I really hope the rest of these courses are not such a waste of time. Thanks for letting me vent.

UTA online FNP ! Yay!

UTA online FNP ! Yay!
So I checked the academic partnership website and they now have an FNP online program through UTA. I was so excited that I now have the option to complete a MSN/FNP at UTA. Has anyone else considered this? The price tag was a little over $33,000 for 24 months. Sounds steep but can't imagine there isn't any graduate grants available.

Are the books all that necessary for this course, I am really tired of buying expensive books that I never open?
