USF nursing School Fall 2017 Potential Students

Hi! I've seen other threads like this one. Pretty much it is just a support thread of anyone who is applying to the University of South Florida's Fall 2017 nursing class. There are threads for about every other year except 2017, so I am starting it. If there is anyone else who just wants to talk to someone going through the process like me, feel free to reply to this discussion.

Good luck to anyone applying to nursing school this semester. I understand first hand how nerve racking it can be!

They have made it much harder to be accepted into the program, I also wish they still did the essay instead of the interview I think it gave more people a chance of being admitted and they now only admit people in the fall. On the website it says next year there will only be one application cycle, March 2nd.

Hey, this is my first time commenting on this thread but I will also apply to Cycle 2. I just finished my AA at HCC. I have only applied to HCC and once my transcripts are in check I'll doing my usf application. I'm so nervous because of how competitive usf is.

Hi what is your prereq gpa at HCC and USF? I have also received my AA at HCC and am applying there too with an 3.569 prereq GPA. USF calculates my prereq GPA as a 3.88, but they claim to only accept first attempt prereq grades so I believe it to actually be much lower

I have never attended usf but my prereq gpa at HCC is a 4.0 and those are all first attempts.

That's really good! Congrats on the great GPA. You shouldn't have to worry too much then.

Thank you! I'm still very nervous though because I only applied to 2 schools. I just submitted my application and spoke with an advisor, she said that we will only hear back until after the deadline. This wait is going to be the worst

Hey everyone,

I have submitted my application for cycle 2, and I was just wondering if anyone knew approximately when interviews for cycle 2 will be held? I know the due date is June 2nd, so I imagined it would be late June? If anybody has any information it would be much appreciated!

Last year they were the 20th, 21st, 22nd. Someone at the CON told me they might be earlier this year or around the same time as last year.

When they say they count your first attempt in a pre req. What happens to students who have gotten a lesss than stellar grade in a class like microbiology. You retake it and get an A. Will the first attempt which may have been a filing grade get counted or does the second grade count?

i emailed them because I got a C+ in nutrition and retook it and got an A. she said if i use grade forgiveness than only the A will count because the C+ appears as an "E" meaning grade forgiveness has been used, and they won't know your first grade.

that might be wrong, but that's what the head of nursing admissions told me. hope that helps!!
