Hi fellow soon-to-be-hopefully nurses! I recently applied to USF's MSN-CNL for non-nurses. I am ecstatic about this program! Any fellow applicants in the anxiously waiting boat?!?
Hey, so I actually didn't include too much of what I did in college, since I've been out for 4 years. After college I was a CNA for a year, then I started teaching math at a high school. I'm also super involved politically at the state level (i.e., pledged delegate for Bernie Sanders at the DNC, progressive Democrats of America, campaigning for SB 562 and single payer healthcare), I volunteer on skid row teaching nutrition classes, I mentor, I've worked at clinics in Peru and Ecuador. I retook anatomy since I didn't do too well in that class during my undergrad years. I also had really strong letters of rec, but what I think helped is that I'm legit passionate about nursing, and if you make that more than clear (and if your recommenders do, too) then you'll be fine. You have to make it clear that you know what is expected of a CNL, and how you've been preparing yourself for the CNL role instead of just a nursing program.

Yeah I got called from Erin! I wouldn't worry about the specific person calling!
